Does all the Juvederm Voluma exit the body? I'm 2 days post op.

If you’re experiencing soreness at the moment, it is probably due to the injections. That should fade over the next couple of days. If it bothers you, you can use ice and/or over-the-counter pain killers to control the discomfort. Don’t worry about Voluma! It is made of hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance that’s produced by your body to lubricate joints and skin. It will not harm you. And yes, it is metabolized over time so that it leaves your body completely within two years. I have never heard any credible reports of HA fillers being in the body years later. Thank you for sharing your question.  A person's temple has a muscle that is active in the chewing process. It is called the temporalis and can become irritated due to the injections or the filler material itself.  As your results mature so should the discomfort.  Assuming no issues with the Voluma it will fully dissolve in the body.  Hope this helps.

Thank you for your question. Some redness, swelling and bruising may occur following injection but the side effects subside quickly. I suggest that you consult with a board certified facial plastic surgeon.

Every patient reacts differently to filler. In general, Voluma lasts up to 2 years in the cheeks. This is an average. In the temples, it can last longer but no, it is not permanent.The discomfort that you are feeling should improve over the next couple of weeks. Best of luck. 

It is normal to experience mild discomfort for a few days after the injection, it should go away soon. You most likely misunderstood your doctor. Voluma will stay in your cheeks for up to 2yrs and then slowly will be absorbed by your own body. Filler found under the skin years later maybe longer lasting or semi-permanent brands, for example Sculptra. It can also happened as a complication of injection, when patient develops granuloma. With Voluma you are most likely safe, since there is a shot that can dilute it if results need to be reversed- it is called Hialuronidaze and I am sure your doctor knows about it. First, I want to address that it is not uncommon to have a sire Jaw after fillers in the upper cheeks and temples. Secondly, Voluma is a longer lasting HA filler and is FDA approved to last upto 2 years. In the study for FDA approval which I was an investigator, we found that on average, it took 2 years for the patient's faces to go back to baseline, however there is a bell curve and for some it was more quickly and for others it was longer.
