Can I apply makeup directly after Voluma injections?

As a general rule, it is fine to apply make up within an hour of injections.  This allows the injections sites to close and should not pose significant risk to your results or increase the chances of complications.

 Many of my patients apply makeup directly after Voluma and other dermal fillers. There should be no problem with infection provided you use clean applicators and also use makeup with a pump rather than anything that you would touch your skin, such as a compact or bottle. Bruising is always a possibility with dermal fillers, particularly thicker onces like Voluma. Ask your doctor to use cannulas rather than needles. Also, if it is so imperative that you look your best, you may need to find another dermatologist to handle your Voluma so that you’ll have the weekend to recover from whatever bruising may (or may not) occur. Be sure to consult a board-certified dermatologist who has experience sculpting the face with Voluma.

Thanks for your question. Yes, you can apply make-up after your injections if necessary. There is always a risk of redness, swelling, and bruising after injections. If you have the option not to return to work immediately that is always best just in case. Best of luck! 

Thank you for your question. I do not see a problem applying makeup after your injections as long as bleeding has stopped. Another option is to wait an hour or so after gently icing the area. To help avoid bruising potential afterwards, do not take aspirin based products, fish oil, or drink green tea a few days before. Taking Arnica tablets will also help. Most Doctors will recommend waiting at least 4 hours before applying make-up after injections. There can be swelling and/or bruising after injections. I recommend injections with cannulas to minimize this. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Thank you for sharing your excellent question.  Because of the risk of infection I would avoid any application of skin care or makeup to your face for at least 4 hours after treatment.  Voluma injections use a very small needle to make a series of punctures through the skin which need some time to heal.  Hope this helps.

Unless there is trauma or abrasion to the skin after injection or the puncture site is larger than normal, it should be perfectly fine to apply make up after the procedure.  I might just avoid the little puncture sites directly for an hour or so if they don't appear healed.   Our patients routinely apply makeup after their procedures and I have not had any issues to date.

After Voluma injections, it is best not to apply anything to your skin until it has healed.  I always recommend waiting 24 hours to be sure the area is healed and to avoid potential infection.  Always seek treatment from a qualified physician.

After Carefully marking the cheeks and creating identical injection site locations and volume quantities to achieve symmetry, cheek augmentation is safely performed. Injection site may require several hours to seal.  Subsequently, placement of make-up should/could be safely performed. Risk of infection is extremely rare and unlikely.
