I work in a setting that requires me to always look my best & it is very hard to get any time off..I want to get voluma injections to my cheekbones & return to work after. I would have to apply makeup again to the area directly after leaving my doc. Is that safe? Could that cause an infection? My doc has surgery fridays.. so the most stretch would be a thursday afternoon. (makeup less than 24 hr after). is that better? Also, will i be presentable directly after injections where its not obvious?
Answer: Dermal Fillers and makeup use Hi @leilamelani. I recommend waiting 24 hours after dermal fillers before applying makeup to avoid a potential infection. Best of luck, Dr. Nima!

Answer: Make up ofter Injections As a general rule, it is fine to apply make up within an hour of injections. This allows the injections sites to close and should not pose significant risk to your results or increase the chances of complications.

Answer: Can I Apply Makeup Directly After Voluma? MakeUp OK After Voluma, But You May Be Bruised Many of my patients apply makeup directly after Voluma and other dermal fillers. There should be no problem with infection provided you use clean applicators and also use makeup with a pump rather than anything that you would touch your skin, such as a compact or bottle. Bruising is always a possibility with dermal fillers, particularly thicker onces like Voluma. Ask your doctor to use cannulas rather than needles. Also, if it is so imperative that you look your best, you may need to find another dermatologist to handle your Voluma so that you’ll have the weekend to recover from whatever bruising may (or may not) occur. Be sure to consult a board-certified dermatologist who has experience sculpting the face with Voluma.

Answer: Make-up after injections Thanks for your question. Yes, you can apply make-up after your injections if necessary. There is always a risk of redness, swelling, and bruising after injections. If you have the option not to return to work immediately that is always best just in case. Best of luck!

Answer: Makeup After Voluma Injections Thank you for your question. I do not see a problem applying makeup after your injections as long as bleeding has stopped. Another option is to wait an hour or so after gently icing the area. To help avoid bruising potential afterwards, do not take aspirin based products, fish oil, or drink green tea a few days before. Taking Arnica tablets will also help. Good Luck!Best wishes, Andrew Lyos MD, FACS
