I'm 27 mother of 1. 280 pounds 5ft 5 BMI 46.6. No major heath issues but pre diabetes is on the horizon if I don't lose the pounds. Meeting with my PCP for options for bariatric surgery soon. PCP said it was hypothyroidism and gave me Synthroid but I haven't dropped a pound yet. She just said diet. So I have a new PCP. But realistically how many pounds are needed to even think about PS? I added a simple photo so show what I have now.

I think that you need to get to a BMI that is lower before having surgery. High BMI patients have a much higher risk of complications.

In general, you need to be physically healthy and at a stable weight, have realistic expectations, be a non-smoker and your BMI needs to be 30 or less.
l recommend you to make an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon to talk about your goals and anything you need to know.

Many surgeons offer online virtual
  consultations where you send your photos and medical history information so
  that you can receive accurate cost at no cost to you.
Choose a board certified plastic surgeon who has done a ton
  of Brazilian Butt Lifts and has privileges to do this surgery at a local
  university hospital. This says his credentials have been checked out by
  fellow Drs. All surgeries carry risk, talk to your plastic surgeon and choose
  one wisely.
