Possible rupture or muscle strain with silicone implants?

Question

I have had silicone implants (under the muscle) since March 2007. 2 days ago I was play wrestling with a friend and felt and heard a pop in my right breast. It has been tender ever since but looks normal and still feels soft however there seems to be a small soft lump in the area where I felt the pop. Could I have ruptured my implant or could this be a muscle strain or bruise?

It would be rare for such a force to rupture an implant and I agree sounds like a muscle related issue but if you are still concerned in a week or two when normal muscle related issues would have settled you should see your surgeon to have an evaluation and possible imaging of the implant

Best to be evaluated for this problem but it is unlikely that this is a rupture of a gel implant.  It takes a good deal of force to do this.  Most likely injured your chest muscle.

From listening to your history and symptoms, I expect that you did not rupture the implant. The force required to do this is actually quite high or large.I bet that you have a muscle strain or pull. Doctors call this musculoskeletal causes. This will improve with rest, anti-inflammatories, ice, and compression support. I recommend you give it three weeks. After this time if it's not better get into your doctor for examination and maybe an MRI.I would bet everything is fine.Good Luck!Dr Chris Saunders

Based on your history is very unlikely that you ruptured your implant.  More likely is that you created a small tear or rip in the implant capsule and the lump is an area of bleeding.  However I strongly suggest you see your plastic surgeon for an examination.

It is doubtful that you ruptured your implant.  An exam is needed to confirm.  See your Plastic Surgeon as soon as possible.
