Is it normal that my breast lift scars look worst 6 weeks post op than they did right after surgery? (photos)

 The simple answer is yes this is quite normal. Scars mature overtime and typically look the most inflamed and angry at about six weeks. They can take  many months to a year, sometimes even up to two years to fully mature.   An options you may consider is to use topical silicone gel sheets. 

Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. With only 6 weeks is too early to talk about final results. The healing process depends in each patient.In my practice, after performing a breast lift with implants exchange I recommend to my patients to limit the movement of the arms for two weeks. After that, you can move your arms taking care and always with common sense. In this regard, it's not advisable to carry heavy weights to prevent the implant out of position, and allow the formation of the physiological capsule around the implant, also to avoid pain and breast swelling.Respectfully,Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-

Scars usually get more pink or red as wounds heal.  Small blood vessels grow into the scar and make them red.  The blood supply brings in cells and nutrients that allow mature collagen and a softer scar to develop.  Some patients form worse scars and should be evaluated more frequently for scar treatment.  I usually recommend no sun, silicone scar products and massage.  Hypertrophic scars can sometimes be improved with early intervention using laser therapy or steroid injectiond.  Keloids are worse, can be difficult to treat and should be followed closely - sometimes with steroid or chemotherapy injection.  Breast keloids patients are usually not candidates for radiation therapy. Yes this is normal as scars go through different stages of healing.  Discuss with your plastic surgeon different treatment options available and see what he she prefers for you  Some examples are silicone gel sheeting, cordran tape, biocorneum.

Scars are typically their reddest and thickest at 6 weeks after surgery.  These immature scars are thick and strong but must mature into thinner and lighter scars over a period of months.

Hello honey, thanks for your question and privided pictures, I have to tell you to not worry too much, because it is too soon to appreciate final result, you can use rose moskete oil and put it in your scar making a bit of pressure with your finger.. It will be more clear

Having said that, different surgeons will use different techniques to close the
wounds. There is no one way to do it. There is no one right way to do it

Commonly at 6-8 weeks scars look their worst with redness and firmness. This often gets better with time but some surgeon recommend post-op scar treatment with silicone sheeting and other materials. Best to ask your surgeon.

Thank you for your question. That is normal. Scar maturation can take unto one year. Initially they look pink and raised and as they mature  they lighten up and flat.

Normal scar maturation takes months. You appear on schedule, but always best to have frank discussion with your chosen PS....
