Hello and thank you for your question. Compression garment use is unique depending on each surgeon. I recommend using a compression garment that is known as a first stage during the first month after surgery. Once that garment has become loose, I recommend that the patient begin to use a stage to garment which is tighter and provides more compression. No one-size garment fits all approach is recommended. Every patient is measured in my office to ensure that they are wearing their appropriate garment. Recommend that you follow the post-operative guidelines provided by your PS as PSs vary in their recommendations based upon experience and training.  I utilize an adjustable compression garment to help manage and prevent fluid collections after liposuction.  It is a method to close dead space following liposuction while the flap adheres to the underlying abdominal wall.  The compression garment is far more important in aggressive liposuction than in conservative liposuction.

The type of garment depends on the surgeon's selection, for these procedures, I recommend a full body garment to my patients.
