I had complications 1 mo post op, attributed to my body producing a lot of post operative fluid. My wound , took 1 mo on wound vac to close. I have a tremendous amount of anxiety about working on this area again, yet want it fixed. The scarring is horrible. What does scar revision to the inner thigh entail? Would I achieve a lot of benefit from scar revision? Is six months post op too soon to do a scar revision? Also I think that a full revision; w/ more skin removal) may be needed some day.
Answer: Thigh lift scar revision You will benefit from a thigh lift scar revision. You had a T closure performed which is where the breakdown occurred. I recommend a minimum six-month wait from the time healing has been achieved to allow the tissue to soften. If you want more skin excised, that can be done as well. Make sure you choose someone who is comfortable performing thigh lift surgery, which makes it less likely that you will experience a significant complication. It is not uncommon to have a little area that needs some dressing changes, but what you went through is a bigger ordeal and fortunately rare in practices that do this surgery a lot. Good luck!

Answer: Thigh lift revision I'm sorry you experienced post-operative complications. When the timing is right for you, a revision will result in an excellent outcome. The extended medial thigh lift in a post massive weight loss patient is a common site for complications. Scar revisions are typically performed after at least a year of healing. Before 10-12 months have elapsed, the tissues are swollen, tight, and immobile, and can be a challenge to contour. Waiting can be frustrating, but a much more aggressive contouring and scar revision can be performed. Like most things, timing is everything.

Answer: Thigh lift scar revision.... I'm sorry to hear about your complications. I believe you will benefit from scar revision. Perhaps waiting until you're 12 to 18 months out for surgery would be a good time to do surgery.

Answer: Would a scar revision be helpful? When? Yes, I think that for a patient like yourself, a well-planned scar revision could be very helpful. One of my goals with a scar revision like yours would be to smooth out the surface. Some sections of your scars appear quite depressed and other areas appear somewhat loose and prominent and this leads to shadows and light reflections that are generally much more noticeable than a well-healed line scar on a flat surface. A second benefit may include making the wide sections of your scar narrower. Thirdly, it may be possible to remove excess skin and improve the overall contour of your thigh. In a case like yours, it would be best to delay a scar revision for at least 6 months from the date of surgery or wound closure. All the best.
