I have a long philtrum (2cm) and would like to opt for a bullhorn lip lift to shorten it. But I had rhinoplasty 1 year ago and my doctor does not recommend the surgery as he is afraid it will affect the shape of my nose along the columella and alar. Kindly advise an alternative. Thank you.
Answer: One year post op A year out of rhinoplasty, you should be more than fine. I am on the conservative side, so I often tell patients to wait at least six months (particularly if alar narrowing procedures have been performed, to allow for adequate healing). That being said, as Dr. Spiegel noted, you can safely do both at the same time and his research has shown it. An appropriately performed lip lift won't affect your sill, your nasal ala, or your columella. I have found though that patients that have had previous rhinoplasty will have swelling that takes a little longer to settle down though. It's not noticeable to the casual observer, but you will certainly feel it. Best of luck!

Answer: Should be fine A lip lift with rhinoplasty, even at the same time, should be fine. I do them together quite regularly. We recently published an article reviewing many of these and they are without problems.

Answer: You can do it You certainly can do the lip lift after rhinoplasty. A year is enough for the nose to heal. If done appropriately, the liplift should not affect the nose in any noticeable way. We have done numerous liplifts with or without rhinoplasty and nose shape is rarely affected. Best wishes.
