I had throat cancer in 2015. I ended successful treatment with chemo & radiation in 09-15. After my skin aged me 5-10 years. I also have a history of skin cancer. My lower face is my main concern with wrinkles and sagging but also my thigh skin has sagged. With my history what treatments am I a candidate for?

Answer: What Can Be Done for Sagging Skin After Cancer Treatment? Full Facelift Is Best Remedy for Sagging Congratulations on beating cancer. I’m sorry that it took its toll on your skin. As long as you are recovered and are not undergoing any treatments, you should be able to get whatever procedure you want. For a sagging lower face and wrinkles, I’d recommend at least a mini face lift with chemical peel to improve your skin quality and stimulate more collagen. If you aren’t interested in surgery, liquid facelifts can make a big difference, too. Begin consulting with facial plastic surgeons so that you can learn more about your options. I hope this helps.

I have treated patients like you with a facelift and or a chemical peel for wrinkles after obtaining clearance from your oncologist. It depends on the type of cancer and where ports were placed but normally this can be done. See an experienced facelift surgeon who can remove your excess skin and jowls and improve your facial wrinkles.

Answer: I would recommend a chemical peel for the face. It is important to assess the precise field treated with the radiation. Radiation can and does affect the microcirculation and this has a bearing on how skin heals. However, it is likely that your radiation fields spared your facial skin. There is not substitute for a personal consultation. I would take free consultations with a grain of salt. Many of them are not worth your time. You have a complicated medical history and unless the doctor actually takes the time to go through your medical history, the consultation is not worthwhile.

Answer: Post-Cancer lift Congratulations on finishing your cancer treatments. I hope that you are now in good health. You may have obstacles ahead of you in restoring your skin to pre-treament appearance. I see that you are in California. Your oncologist will be familiar with your situation and have preliminary advice for you based upon successful treatments that his/her past patients have received. Start there.
