My 22 month coal eels with me at night and I'm trying to prep him to sleep on his own/soothed by his dad come time when I have my ba. I know this is going to be a difficult transition for all of us but I'm wondering how long after a BA sub muscular until my child can safely sleep next to me again? Right now he has to have his head positioned under my arm to sleep and he rolls over me constantly thru the night. Any advise or suggestions? Thank you in advance!
Answer: Safe to sleep next to toddler after Breast Augmentation I doubt your toddler could hurt anything but it will wake you up when he rolls on top of you. Might be a good time to get him into his own bed as you will not be sleeping well and you could sleep in his room for a few nights while you recover.

Answer: Safe to sleep next to toddler after Breast Augmentation? Hi and thanks for your question. As a parent of six children my advice would be to have your child sleep in his own room whether or not you have breast augmentation surgery. It is time and both you and your husband will be thankful once it's done. You can ask your pediatrician for advice on how best to do this. Good luck!

Answer: Should be safe to have toddler sleep next to you after breast augmentation Hello Petitemama86 and thank you for your question. I have a 21 month old at home and can relate to your situation. In reality, during the initial days after surgery, you will be sore and will probably not feel comfortable having your toddler bumping into your chest. As you recover and feel better after your surgery, you will increase your activities including letting your toddler sleep in the same bed. It is important during the initial post-op recovery period to have help from family, your significant other, etc. The main limitation for someone in your situation after breast augmentation is going to be the lifting and activity restrictions as recommended by your surgeon. As for my post-op routine for breast augmentation patients, my personal goal is to try and 1) get my patients back to their work or usual activities and 2) off of pain medications, as soon as possible. Regarding activities, I forbid any heavy lifting >10 lbs for minimum 2 weeks. At week 3, I allow for an increase in activities as tolerated. However, I still do not allow exercises that activate the pectoralis major muscle for 1 month because I want the pocket that I have formed for the breast implant to be stable and I want the scar tissue that forms to preserve this pocket to be more reliable and prevent activity that can cause the muscle to stretch/rip or move the implant in a less than ideal position. I also don't allow submerging the incisions in a bathtub, pool, ocean, etc for 1 month. Underwire bras are typically discouraged for 6 months, but other than that, almost all of my patients are back to whatever they were doing before surgery, within a month after surgery. Again, what I mentioned above for my patients are a generalization and the regimen I prescribe for each patient is customized to their particular surgery and expected needs. Also remember that the breast implants need some time to "drop and fluff:" in most people they ride high for 1-3 months before they fall into their ideal position. I hope this helps answer your question(s) and make sure to seek consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon with expertise in cosmetic breast surgery if a second opinion is desired. Sincerely, Dr. Sean Kelishadi

Answer: Sleeping with baby It would be fine for you to sleep with your baby within one week of surgery such that your breast tenderness subsides. This is so if baby bumps into your breast it wont hurt. Otherwise you won't affect your breast augmentation results. You just shouldn't lift, pull, push heavy things for the first month after surgery. Please see link below for examples of BA and take advantage of our breast implant special.

Answer: Sleeping with toddler after breast augmentation surgery Having once been kicked in the ribs by a child of similar age it's my feeling that you need to avoid the risk of trauma to your breasts for a period of approximately 8 weeks. If you can get through that time period, the risk of trauma causing bleeding becomes very small. Although you could probably get away with sleeping next to him sooner, if something were to happen that resulted in encapsulation or elevation of your implant you would regret having taken the chance.Good luck and enjoy your results. You might consider allowing him to fall asleep next to you but then having him carried to another bed for the rest of the night.Good luck and enjoy your results.Jon A Perlman M.D., FACSCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryABC-TV Extreme Makeover Plastic SurgeonBeverly Hills, California
