What to do to narrow my nose, especially the area in between my eyes? Wide nose with boxy, amorphous tip. (Photo)

When your doctor raises the inside corners of your eyebrows just a little bit, it pulls and tightens the skin exactly between the inner corners of your eyes, and that top part of your nose, between your eyes, looks narrower. It's *not* possible to make that happen with surgery. It's one of those things in plastic surgery that seems to make perfect mechanical sense, but it never works when you try it. And it's not at all risk free to "try."Similarly, "Trimming some muscle fibers out of this area at the top part of my bridge:" how's he gonna do that? With an external scar that you'll hate? From an incision up in the hair line? From within the nose? This can't work anyway. And if he does get to some "muscle fibers," the scar tissue that results from pulling out those fibers will more than fill the void created by the loss of the muscle, and the area will look wider, or asymmetrical, or puckered with a lump of scar, or something else nasty.Look at the video link, below. I made a simulation of a possible rhinoplasty result on you. Seems to me that the main event would be narrowing the cartilages in the tip of your nose. I simulated that, as well as a smaller narrowing of the cartilages above the tip, and of the nasal bones. The top of the nasal bones, about at the level of the white arrow, cannot be narrowed, so don't let someone talk you into something goofy.Actually, it *is* possible to narrow that area, but it narrows if an implant is placed there: if that part of your nose is very close to your face, if you had an Asian nose, for example, then placing an implant to build it up can make it *look* more narrow, but that's not a possibility in your nose, because the height of your bridge there is excellent, and you would never want an implant along your bridge.This all make sense?

You have a nice profile, but I agree your nose is somewhat wide.  A rhinoplasty could narrow your nose to a modest degree, but expect the change to be on the subtle side.

A formal rhinoplasty is necessary to address the concerns that you may have.  I would not consider removing the muscle (corrugators) as it may widen the distance between your eyebrows.  I would recommend seeking out a Board-Certified plastic surgeon who will accurately assess your nose, create a simulation based on what your nose COULD look like after surgery, and formulate a plan tailored to your wishes.  Good luck!

You are a good candidate for rhinoplasty.  Your tip can be refined, and your bridge will be narrowed by performing osteotomies.  Seek out a true rhinoplasty expert, and go on multiple consultations.  All the Best.

Yes, the rhinoplasty procedure  can narrow a wide nose. Closed rhinoplasty  approach can obtain the goals of narrowing the bridge line. To narrow the bridge requires osteotomies placed in the nasal bones. To narrow a wide bulbous tip requires suture techniques applied to the lower lateral cartilages of the nasal tip. Osteotomies and infracture of the nasal bones will narrow the bones. The tip can be defined better with a special suture technique.

Hi and thanks for your question. The nasal tip can be more defined during rhinoplasty. I don't usually recommend any brow modification procedure as they seldom narrow the space between one's eyes as you state. However, adequate narrowing in this area can often be achieved by nasal osteotomies which permanently narrow a wide nasal bridge. No one can really give you medical advice from a series of photos. jaggerchick,The real heavy lifting of narrowing the bridge of the nose comes from making surgical cuts in the nasal bones and narrowing them. Be mindful that, if that procedure is performed, the width of your nasal tip (which you noted in your question title) will appear even wider, because of the now slender nasal dorsum. You may wish to consider tip work at the same time.In my opinion the muscles associated with the nasal bridge play a minor role in the appearance of the width of the bridge. I wouldn't recommend resection, and I don't know any facial plastic surgeons that routinely resect these muscles for aesthetic surgery of the nose.You have lovely eyes, so I agree, why would you place them at risk? I would urge you to not modify your eyebrows nor your nasal muscles. The correct procedure to do is an open rhinoplasty which will not only narrow your nasal dorsum (part between your eyebrows) but as well as narrow you nasal tip. A consultation would be very helpful to give you definitive recommendations.
