I am turning 17 and I really want a nose job. Am I ready for one? What is the process?

Before talking about age, it is important for your parents to be supportive of your decision to have rhinoplasty because not only do they have to sign the consent form (until you are 18), you would most likely need their help and support after surgery. As for age, girls can have rhinoplasty typically after they are 15 1/2 years old. At that age, the nose is typically done growing, so it is possible, assuming you are a good candidate.

Most patients at 17 are ready to undergo rhinoplasty, from the physical (appearance, end of the growth spurt, etc) and emotional standpoints. Parental consent will be required and parental involvement is important in the process of selecting the right surgeon. Consider seeing several rhinoplasty surgeons and ask for simulation and before and after photos, as these will be invaluable in making a decision about your surgery. Each individual grows at a different rate. However, most teens are close enough to their adult height and nasal growth so that they are ready by the above ages. There are a number of other considerations as well, including emotional maturity, financial considerations and timing in terms of school.

I usually wait until the age of 16. After that the nose doesn't grow significantly. So at 17, you should be just fine.  You do however have to bring a guardian. Good luck!

In most cases girls turning 17 have matured enough emotionally and physically to go through the rhinoplasty process. Make sure you look for a very experienced rhinoplasty surgeon for best results. Parental consent will be required up until age 18. It would be a good idea to make 2-3 consultations with  very experienced rhinoplasty surgeons in your area, to get an idea what can can be accomplished along with computer imaging done in the office.

There is no minimum age for a rhinoplasty.  Patients should have completed most of their growth and have the maturity and accurate body image to make a decision that will last the rest of their lives.  Most patients are at least 16.  Minors need a parent or guardian for consent.

Most surgeons will say that they would operate on women who are at least 15 or 16, and men who are at least 17 or 18. This usually related to the timing of adult facial growth in women and men.

Most female noses can be done any time after 15 and males after 17. An in person consultation is what is needed along with your parents consent. Christmas time is quite a popular one for young adults to have their noses done.

 Please share this answer with your parents since you are under 18 years of age.  The nose stops growing in the early teens and many teens have Rhinoplasty at age 14 or 15, so 17 years of age should not be an issue.
