I lost weight and my arms just didn’t retract- plus even when I was very, very thin my upper arms were a bit thicker than my frame. So far, I love the contour and size- waiting to see the scar healing and hoping they fade. No bruising, very little swelling overall.
Dr. Hartley and his entire team are simply the best and I could not be more pleased with my results! He listened to my concerns and completely understood the look I was going for, all the while making the entire process less scary and intimidating. I'm active and wanted to make sure that I didn't go too big - my results are perfection and I was back to my normal activity within a few weeks of my surgery. I felt so supported throughout the entire process - from my initial consult, to surgery and post-op appointments, Dr. Hartley, his nurses and medical team have gone above and beyond.
While hiking, I tripped on some rocks, fell and broke my nose. It was a very traumatic break and after visiting the ER (concussion, embedded rocks in my hands and head), I called Dr. Hartley’s office to schedule a consult. I had the option to only do the internal repair (covered by insurance) or to add the cosmetic portion to ensure a pleasing aesthetic result. I also could have done the structural repair first and done the cosmetic part in the future, if I wasn’t pleased with the results. I didn’t want to go through multiple surgeries and was fairly certain that I wouldn’t be satisfied with the structural-only repair, so elected to do the full surgery. It was a pretty difficult recovery- likely due to two rounds of trauma two weeks apart. The bruising under my eyes from the initial break went away within a week, but the bruising post-surgery took 6-7 weeks to dissipate. The swelling took a few months to go away. I still have some nerve/numbness between my eyebrows, but I understand that full healing takes up to 12 months. At this point, I’m happy with my results, but I really hope not to have to go through a rhinoplasty again!!!
After nursing 3 kids it definitely took a toll on my breasts and self esteem! I had always gone back and fourth whether or not I would go through with something like this. After receiving a recommendation for Boulder Plastic Surgery, I decided to book a consultation and see what it was about. I got the pleasure of being paired up with Dr. Hartley. He really helped me feel more comfortable and reassured that he has the experience and knowledge on exactly how to execute my exact desired results. I wanted to look fuller and natural, and not anything extreme or super busty looking. He had advised me to look at pictures of sizes and shapes of breasts that I had liked. I found a picture, brought it in the day of my surgery and woke up so happy with the results! He truly did execute my exact desired look! I 1000% recommend him. Not only is Dr Hartley amazing, but the whole practice itself is small and intimate and truly comforting. This was my first surgery every and they made me feel completely comfortable! HIGHLY recommend!
I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Dr. Hartley. From the moment I went in for my consultation, to post op recovery, he was humble, accessible and ready to help in any way he could. He answered every single question I had, sometimes twice, and was patient while I worked to reach a decision to go forward with the surgery. He personally called me twice before I booked the surgery to ensure my concerns were allayed and expectations were set correctly. The surgery/post-op and recovery have been so incredibly easy and so much better than I expected. I didn’t have to take anything for pain beyond ibuprofen and the results have far exceeded my expectations. The only regret I have about the entire surgery, is that I wish I had done it sooner.
Dr. Hartley was amazing! I cannot be more pleased with my results! Dr. Hartley and his staff made me feel so comfortable, welcomed, and at ease with the whole process. I would highly recommend him and his talent to anyone looking for any type of procedure.
I am so very pleased with Dr. Hartley's work. My greatest fear was that my brow and neck lift would cause me to not look like "me." If that is your fear, I highly recommend Dr. Hartley. He set expectations appropriately with me and eased my concerns. I look like a fresher version of "me" which is exactly what I wanted. I'm grateful to Dr. Hartley and for his talented work.
When I finally got up the nerve to move forward with breast augmentation, I asked three friends in Boulder who I knew had had the same surgery, and all three pointed me to Dr. Hartley. When I called Boulder Plastic Surgery to schedule a consult, Dr. Hartley was booked months out. I was eager to have the surgery and didn't want to wait, so I scheduled a consult with his colleague, Dr. Maxhimer. Dr. Maxhimer put me at ease right away and listened as much as he talked, which I appreciated. He was professional yet personable, and he explained the procedure carefully and answered all of my questions. I felt very comfortable and had no reservations about having him perform my surgery. Because I had such a small window of availability, though (due to work and travel commitments), I was unable to book my surgery with Dr. Maxhimer; his vacation was the same week I was available for the surgery. Dr. Hartley WAS available for surgery that week, and he had just opened up a couple of Saturday consult appointments. After meeting with Dr. Hartley, whose confident, friendly manner instilled confidence in me, I scheduled my surgery and started to count the days! Summer, Dr. Hartley's nurse, has been wonderful and supportive. She explained everything at my pre-op and made herself available for questions. The surgery itself went smoothly thanks to the staff at Avista Surgery Center. Now 3 weeks post-op, I am pleased with my results and happy to recommend both Dr. Hartley and Dr. Maxhimer as well as their professional and capable staff.
Dr. Hartley performed a breast reconstruction after a bilateral mastectomy for me. He was recommended to me by my doctor, in part because he worked frequently with my surgeon (Dr. Fox). I met Dr. Hartley before my surgery and went through details and outcomes from surgery. He shared with me his previous results and demonstrated me materials for the future implants. He asked me about what I was hoping for in terms of size and appearance. Dr. Hartley impressed me by his knowledge and professionalism as a surgeon, but he was also just a very positive and supportive person. I left that first meeting feeling much better than when I had arrived. I met him few times after my first surgery as he made sure that everything was healing properly. He later performed the second part of the surgery, where the final implants are put in place and everything is made to look good! The scars are barely visible and there were no complications along the way. My family and I are very thankful to him and I am lucky to be his patient. He is very talented and highly professional.
I have been wanting to have this procedure for years. I met with a plastic surgeon years ago and the recovery seemed too difficult at the time. I met with Hartley this spring after many friends highly recommended him. So happy I did it finally! Recovery was so easy, swelling and bruising gone in weeks!
Assuming all goes well with your surgery (ie no complications) you should be fine to go to Disney world. There may be some rides that would be uncomfortable (is Space Mountain) but you can always skip the jerky rides. If you are at all concerned and this is a big family vacation, the safest thing to do would be to postpone surgery until your return. Have a great trip.
Breast reduction is a significant surgery. I am not aware of anyone performing this under straight local anesthesia. Unfortunately, an epidural is not possible as it would affect your ability to breath. Surgery in an accredited facility with a board certified anesthesiologist is a very safe and well tolerated procedure. Best of luck.
My favorite scar cream that I use for all of my patients is called BioCorneum. It has silicone, moisturizers, and sunblock. Scar Away is a good less expensive alternative. Make sure that whatever you choose has silicone. Vitamin E has never been shown to be beneficial. Best of luck.
Persistant seromas may require an indwelling drain to allow the tissue to heal together and prevent further fluid collection. The seroma may also represent damage to the salivary glands. I would have the fluid tested for saliva as this requires a different treatment protocol. Best of luck.
It is very common to have numbness of the cheeks and in front of the ears after a facelift. This can take many months to resolve but usually resolves completely. Do not stick needles into your face at this could cause bleeding or introduce infection. Check in with your PS to make sure the swelling is within normal limits for your timeframe. Best of luck.
