Can a lipoma turn after rupturing into a cyst 8 months later? (Photo)

Question

I notice a lump on head approx.8-10yrs ago.Ct scans of head indicate fatty tissue Lipoma not to worry. Became bigger by time no Pain. Had 3-4X different reasons more HEAD CT Scans different yrs later all said Lipoma. 3 Head MRi's as well. On 11/18/16 rupture by itself I went to ER Chino CA hosp they squeezed it all out, thinking it's over 8months later it grew BACK to this Now. I couldn't add another photo so I have to ask another question.At least I know it can be removed on Local.Thanks Dr.s

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs.  Due to the trauma at the first expression it may have caused the cyst to develop.  Treatment of either the lipoma or cyst would be similar and I would counsel you to see an ASPS board certified plastic surgeon to have the tissue removed once and for all.  Best wishes.

Regardless of what it is, one or the other or both, just have it removed by a plastic surgeon so that you don't get a bald spot; excision of this lesion will require a small local flap to ensure tension free closure.
