Is it possible to reattach upper lateral nose cartilage on one side of the nose 8 years after trauma?

Cartilaginous fractures/deformities of the nose are often more challenging than the bony deformities. Once they heal in the new and non-anatomic position, they often need cartilage grafting or excision for reshaping or replacing the damaged pieces. Having said that, good visuals and a thorough examination of the nose is really needed to be able to give more detailed advice on the topic.

It appears that your mayor concern is about shape of the lateral side of the nose? In that case most likely correction with filler would help to achieve symmetry with opposite side. If your are satisfied with this correction you may continue with fillers or consider permanent correction with crushed cartilage  taken from nose or ear. Good luck.

Time isn't as much an issue with this as much as the anatomy and the changes that have occurred.  If all you want it to fill in the dent, I would suggest just a little bit of filler in that area.  It nicely corrects irregularities, is safe, quick and easy and relatively inexpensive.  It seems to last a long, long time in the nose.  

Nasal trauma can cause fractures of the nasal bone and detachment of the upper cartilages leading to a dent that can be seen. Rhinoplasty surgery can help to improve the shape and size of the nose as well as nasal breathing. Use of nasal cartilages from the septum or rib can help in this scenario.

 A full set of pictures and usually an in-person examination are going to be required to make a determination of the right fix. When patients have a inwardly concave upper lateral cartilage from trauma or previous surgery, a spreader graft is usually placed underneath that cartilage to make it convex and open up the nasal valve. Photos and in office consult are necessary so the interior  as well as the exterior of the nose can  be evaluated. If the upper lateral cartilage is displaced from the end of the nasal bone it cant be reattached  after so many years .The upper lateral cartilage and bone are thin in this  and they will not " heal " together . There are different ways to handle this problem. Most commonly :1) A spreader graft may be all that is necessary . This would "push" the ULC in a more lateral position . 2) An onlay graft  ( of septal cartilage) over the upper lateral cartilage to " mask " the problem Hope this helps
