Day 5 after my first miraDry treatment and swelling / fluid is all over my torso (penile edema)

Question

I did the Miradry for the first time 5 days ago - everything went well. From day 3 the swelling / fluid started on my chest traveling to my abdomen / waist, now it's around my penis (penile edema) I know this to do with the gravity, but is it normal for it to go all the way down? I apply ice on all swollen areas and take ibuprofen (once a day) and bromelain (twice a day) I'm really worried. I did the treatment in a city 500km away from home. I would appreciate your advises doctors.

This much swelling is worrisome. I suggest you see your treating physician. In the meantime, avoid salty foods that might promote fluid retention. Best wishes, Dr. ALDO

This treatment should be isolated to the armpit area.  It should not travel and cause edema anywhere else.  With one treatment we have seen 82% reduction in underarm sweat.

Swelling of the trunk is completely normal after Miradry and can last a few weeks. However, swelling that goes all the way down to the groin area is extremely rare and we have not seen that in our practice. I would not be concerned unless there is any sign of infection like redness or pain or fever. Continue an anti-inflammatory like Motrin and it should clear on its own. You should call your provider that performed the procedure and make them aware.

I have done miraDry since May 2011, hundreds and hundreds and I have never seen swelling extending to the areas you have mentioned. I use the highest energy level (level 5) AND treat the area TWICE !I do place ALL of my patients on a bioflavonoid regimen called Swell-X pt to reduce swelling and I have done so for more than 5 years. See link below.

It is not unusual to have swelling that spreads to the abdomal space following Miradry. Continue icing as you are doing. I recommend you call your doctor to discuss your concerns. Good luck.
