If I am in within about 30 pounds of where I want to be with my weight and have a face lift done, and then some months later lose that 30 pounds, will that affect the work that I had done on my face? More concerned with the jowls and lower face. Thank you!
Answer: Weight loss and facelifting Thanks for sharing. You look like a great candidate for facelifting as you should get nice results. Its possible to sag after losing extreme weight. If you are eager to get the results, to play it safe you could lose half the weight beforehand and half after and you should be fine Speak to your surgeon. Best of luck!

Answer: Losing weight before facelift surgery Based on you photos you are a great candidate for a lower face and neck lift using local anesthesia and twilight sedation. You will have great results. Since you feel you're 30 pounds over weight, you may want to loose about 10-15 pounds first and after facelift you will be motivated to loose the rest.

Answer: #Weightloss affect on #facelift Optimizing your weight prior to undergoing surgery will maximize your results. 30 lbs of weight loss is still significant enough that I would recommend at least being with 10-15 lbs of your goal weight before you schedule your facelift.

Answer: Best to Be Close to Your Ideal Weight Thanks for your question, and kudos to you for considering your long-term results before undergoing a facelift. Unfortunately, there is no way to predict with 100% accuracy what will happen to your face if you lose weight after your lift. If you usually see a lot of changes in your face when you lose or gain weight, postponing your procedure may be a good idea. However, if your face tends to stay relatively the same regardless of your weight, you'll probably maintain your facelift results well. If you're still unsure, it's best to err on the side of caution and reach your goal weight before pursuing any cosmetic procedure. Best of luck with your decision!

Answer: Weight loss Weight loss may cause relapse of excess skin, more apparent in the neck region. If only slight weigth loss it should be fine but 30 lbs is significant; therefore, I would recommend waiting until you meet your weight loss goals.

Answer: Loosing weight prior to a facelift Dear grandmana,Thank you for your question. It is certainly true that loosing significant amount of weight can cause facial skin to sag. However, I did not find it to be a problem after a facelift. Most current facelifts techniques remove a fair amount of fat to improve the contour of the face and neck. Once the fat is removed and the skin (SMAS) tightened weight loss can not create sagging. Best of luck!Dr. Konstantin
