Ear surgery and otoplasty procedures can vary widely in cost and complexity. After an in-person exam to discuss your goals, a surgeon may be able to give you an idea of the costs involved. In your case, the procedure might be relatively straightforward, inexpensive, and performed under local anesthesia, but would require an exam to be sure.If it requires extensive cartilage reshaping or sedation/anesthesia, the costs may be higher. All the best,
I would echo the previous post that this looks more like Darwin's Tubercle, which is a protuberance or thickening of the helix at the mid to upper third of the ear. It is a benign, congenital condition. Removal can be done in the office with local anesthetic which will reduce the cost of having to pay an anesthesia fee, facility fee, etc. I would recommend you see a board certified plastic surgeon for a formal quote, standard profile pictures and to discuss your exact goals of surgery. This will ensure that both you and the surgeon are happy with the results. Edward Buckingham, MD
Otoplasty may cost $3000 on the low end. The surgery can be performed in your plastic surgeon's office under local anesthesia.Find a board certified plastic surgeon who regularly performs ear correction surgeries. Then look at the plastic surgeon's website before and after photo galleries to get a sense of who can deliver the results. Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
Dear aforson, the cost of surgery depends on a lot of factors (type of surgery, number of treated areas, anesthesia fee, surgeon, facility fee, city, etc.). It would be the best to visit or call plastic surgery offices and ask for a price.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery
The extra skin that you refer to appears to be what they call a Darwin's tubercle. It can be removed under local anesthesia in the office which saves you the cost of the day surgery center and anesthesiology fees. Your photos do not show all of the angles of the ear so a price quote is not possible because I do not have all of the facts or had a chance to examine you. A limited dissection of the ears is approximately $2000.00. If there are more issues, it could be closer to $ 3000.00.John Standefer MD
Yes, the cost for otoplasty would be less if only one ear is being treated. You can learn more about otoplasty at my web reference link below.
Thank you for your question. It is hard to address your question without seeing photographs. There are different methods of otoplasty to address the helical rim. It would be best for you to schedule an in person consultation with a facial plastic surgeon, or surgeon who performs otoplasty to...
Thanks for your inquiry, elif18. Sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction on your otoplasty. Based on your photos, I think your ears look good. You’re still healing so you might not see the final results until a few more weeks. But if you’re not happy with how your ears look, you can go for rev...
Hello there,Thank you for your question. If there is any trauma to the cartilage, I would expect at least 6 weeks of healing time but usually it takes approximately 3 months for the area to fully heal. Hope this helps. All the best,Carlos Mata, MD, MBA, FACSBoard-Certified Plastic Surgeon
Yes it is possible to shorten the length of ears that may seem too tall in vertical height. This can be done surgically by removing a wedge of skin and cartilage. Make sure you consult with an experienced and board certified facial plastic surgeon or plastic surgeon to discuss your concerns.
I am a UK based plastic surgeon. I have carried out otoplasty by various techniques for many years and I also offer 'Earfold'.Earfold is not for everyone and is not as adaptable as otoplasty. However, it is a relatively simple, quickly performed (minimal surgery compared with otoplasty) ...
