BOTOX is regarded as the most effective but temporary treatment of blepharosphasm nowadays. Maximum results would take about one or two after the injections. Botox works very well for Blepharospasms.  Onset of action is approximately 5-7 days, and maximal effect usually by day 10.  It may take a couple of sessions to get the exact dosing, since the degree and region involved can be different in every case.  Be patient and good luck

Hello, benign essential blepharospasm is a chronic disease that can cause significant difficulty with daily activities if the spasms become too strong and prevent you from keeping your eyelids open enough to see. Botox is definitely a temporizing measure that provides substantial improvement that lasts up to 3 months at a time in most patients. If the blepharospasm continues to progress, a surgical orbicularis myectomy is an option as well. You should see an oculoplastic surgeon who is specifically trained in treating eyelid disease and performs specialized eyelid surgery. 

As the effects if Botox last 4-6 months it is not a permanent cure for blepharospasm and repeat treatments are necessary. Follow up with your surgeon to address any further concerns regarding your treatment.

Hello Flawsome36,Botox is a great treatment for blepharospasm and is one of the original indications for the use of Botox.  When you maintain your injections it does prevent the spasms from coming back.  It takes about 2 weeks to reach the maximum effect of Botox.  With regards to you being able to drive Botox would have no impact on that.  If you feel your eyelid spasms are so severe that the lid blocks your vision then as the Botox reaches full effect and the lid is not having spasms you should be able to drive again.  I'd recommend you follow up with your injector to evaluate your results.I hope this helps and good luck. 

Botox is not  cure for blepharospasm but can hep to control the symptoms. The dosage required varies form patient to patient, but most respond to the standard starting dose. It is very important to have a doctor who is experienced in treating blepharospasm, not just cosmetic injections. These are typically Oculoplastic surgeons. Botox is a temporary fix and not a permanent one. It will help you with your blepharospasm for a few months. 

 Botox as well as most things in medicine does not cure but either helps or controls. you should have some good results over the next 10 days and it will eventually wear off. Be sure you are seeing a board certified ophthalmologist or oculoplastic surgeon

I'm not sure how Botox would impact your ability to drive or not to drive.  Patients are able to resume driving immediately after Botox.  There is no downtime for this treatment. The full effects of the product can be seen 14 days after injection.  I encourage you to speak with your injector to get clarification on your question.
