Mentor MemoryShape or MemoryGel?

Question

I had my first BA consultation this week and scheduled my surgery for 3 weeks from now. My surgeon recommended MemoryShape for me and I chose the 495cc high profile as I did not want to go any smaller. I really like how the fullness of a round implant looks over the more natural MemoryShape. I really feel like I'd like to have the MemoryGel Siltex high profile 500cc implants. The diameter is only 13.2cm so they are no wider than the MemoryShape 495cc. Would this switch work?

Carynn86,I think that you will get great results with either implant, however, if you want more projection/ fullness, I would stick with the MemoryShape implants. The memory shape 495cc implant has a projection of 6.5 cm and the memory gel 500cc high profile implant has a projection of 5.4cm. That's over a cm less projection. The projection is how far out the implant projects at the maximal point from your chest wall. In my opinion the memoryshape implant will give your breast a more round, full appearing breast than the memory gel HP 500cc implant. I hope this helps. Good luck!

Thank you for your question.I will go under the assumption that your base width diameter (i.e. Breast width is 13.0cm). You should be able to switch out the implants. One thing you should know. The memory shape 495 cc implants has a projection of 6.5cm. The thickness of this implant is much greater than the thickness of the high profile 500 cc implant that is only 5.4 cm. If youre interested in more fullness you may want to go with the memory shape 495cc. I recommend talking it over with your board certified plastic surgeon.

Thank you for your question.  I feel that you need to discuss this more with your surgeon. On a first consultation, you and your doctor are gathering information and providing a lot of information.  Just because you initially chose a shaped implant does not mean you cannot change your decision.  Talk with your surgeon about your goals in terms of the appearance you are looking for and ask as to what implant style will or will not accomplish that goal.  Sometimes more that one implant may produce the same results depending on the starting point.
