Why are my eyes different shapes? (Photo)

First of all every person has asymmetries.  They are what keep us unique.   Some reasons to work this up are if things have changed. Has this always been an issue? is this getting worse? If this is new or changing I would recommend seeing someone to work this up that takes insurance. If this is a life long thing then the most common reason for this type of orbital asymmetry is hypoplastic maxillary sinus. This is not an issue at all from a medical or health standpoint. Really it is only important to recognize if you were to have sinus surgery.   The sinus are air filled spaces in the face that help with voice, lighten the skull and drain the mucous.  Hope this helps.Best,DrC

Eye Asymmetry is extremely common and our recent study shows that 97% of the patients who are seeking eyelid rejuvenation have asymmetric eyes or eyebrows. You have a droopy eyebrow and eyelid on the right and both of these are correctable. You may consider consulting an experienced board certified plastic surgeon.

So everyone is a little asymmetric and we can't predict how that asymmetry will show itself. For you, from this photo at least, it seems that your right brow is a little lower than your left brow. This makes your right eye look a little more closed. There are a number of ways to correct this from botox to surgery. The position of the upper and lower eyelids between the two eyes are slightly different.  See an oculoplastic specialist for an in-person consultation to determine the cause and the best treatment options.

If the asymmetry has been present since you were little, it may be a congenital variation. However, It appears that your left lower lid may be retracted ,or lower than the right lower lid. There are a number of other causes such as facial trauma and high thyroid conditions to name a few. A general medical evaluation, consultation with an Oculoplastic surgeon  and a CT scan of the face and orbits are advised prior to any eyelid surgery.

     It is very common to identify differences in th appearance of the eyes when careful analysis is done.  This unevenness or asymmetry may be due to a variety of factors including differences in brow shape and position, eyelid skin or tissue irregularity, underlying fat amounts and position, and the position of the upper eyelids relative to the pupil.  In order to properly and safely review your options, I would also recommend you seek the opinion of  an experienced board certified plastic surgeon.
