I had a tummy tuck April 6 2015. I have a protruding Mons now. I have spoke with my ps and decided to do lipo on Nov 25th. There is a part right above, on and below my incision that seems like it is hard. I am concerned that this might be scar tissue or some kind of hardening. In your experience, has lipo not been enough to fix this area? I feel like if I engage my abs there isn't really any fat right there. Also, how long does healing of the mons usually take? How long to wear compression?

Answer: Lipo of mons area Thank you for your question. I bet that liposuction will make a nice difference for your contour in this area. It tends to respond fairly well. The only thing is prolonged swelling. You will likely see quite a bit of swelling/bruising, so be prepared for that. Best wishes.

Answer: Liposuction of the mons pubis Do you effectiveness of liposuction on the mons pubis depends on if The fullness is due to subcutaneous fat or skinny laxity. The mons pubis often have skin laxity which can easily be interpreted as excess fat.Often an abdominoplasty well have an upwards pull removing skin laxity from this area. if you gently lift the moms pubis by pulling on the skin and it fins out then the area still has loose skin.If there still persistent fullness when it's lifted then there is most likely enough subcutaneous fat but liposuction will have an impact. Areas with thick layers of fat and tight skin usually responded very well to liposuction. The firmness you are feeling may very well be scar tissue from your abdominoplasty. Scar tissue is usually mature at six months though the scar tissue and skin incisions can take over a year to mature. It's generally fine to have liposuction six months after an abdominoplasty. The mons pubis often stay swollen for a long time after liposuction. It's an area that can be difficult to get good compression on regardless of garment used. Most patients with fullness in the mons pubis after an abdominoplasty respond nicely to liposuction.Best,Mats Hagstrom M.D.
