I'm guessing that's not even close to enough :(
Thank you for your question. You are correct in your conversion of Dysport units to Botox units. Given the typical strength and mass of the masseter muscle this may be an insufficient dose. I typically start at the equivalent of 12 to 20 units of Botox per side - 35 to 60 units of Dysport. The lower the muscle mass, the lower the starting dose. I would recommend waiting 10-14 days and then follow up with your injector to reassess the results of your treatment. Not having seen you, your injector may have felt this was an appropriate dose based on their exam. I hope this was helpful - Dr. Moore.
Thank you for your question. You are absolutely correct - the conversion ratio between Dysport and Botox is 2.5-3 units of Dysport per unit of Botox, so 12 units of Dysport is approximately equivalent to 4 units of Botox. This is a very low dose - typical dosages in the masseters range from 12-24 units of Botox per side (equivalent to 36-72 units of Dysport). The masseters are very strong muscles, and it often takes relatively high doses of Botox/Dysport to effectively shrink them. Also, keep in mind that it can take several weeks to see the slimming results from masseter injections. I would recommend following-up with your injector to discuss your concerns. Best of luck!
