Thanks for reaching out. I usually prepare my patients by telling them their breast will look crazy for about 3 weeks before they start to drop. They usually take about 6-12 weeks to fully settle into place. Some patients takes up to 6 months. I would say you start feeling comfortable by week three.I hope this helps :)
Hello,Generally breast implants "drop" or settle in about 3-4 weeks, but continue to normalize and look more natural over the course of 3-6 months. Each individual's time frame varies a bit depending on their tissues and anatomy.Warm regards,Dr. Pedy Ganchi Village Plastic Surgery
Thanks for your question and photo. Congrats on your recent surgery! In general it takes as little as 6 weeks and as long as 6 months for your implants to drop and fluff and reach a final shape/size. Every patient is different and it depends on many factors such as size of implant, pocket choice for implant, patient's own tissue characteristics, etc. You can read my attached blog post discussing this issue for further detail.
Hi there, Thank you for your question. It will take a good 3-6 months for breasts to drop and fluff. Patients differentiate, speak with your surgeon to ensure you are healing at an expected rate. Best,
I appreciate your question. It will take 3-6 months for you to feel comfortable having implants in your body and for them to settle. This time allows for you to physically and psychologically adapt to your new body image. There are many variables that contribute to a breast augmentation's final result. Preop size and shape, IMF location, location of the implants and type of implant. Patients heal at different rates and each breast will sometimes heal at a different rate. Rest, relax, recover and heal. Express your concerns to your surgeon so he/she can examine you. Then reassess final result at 6 months. The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam. Please see a board-certified plastic surgeon that specializes in aesthetic and restorative breast surgery. Best of luck! "Drop and fluff" refers to the fact that as the skin stretches and the muscles relax, your breast implants move down and out slowly – about 1 percent a day. It’ll be about six weeks before they even begin to settle down, but they’ll be close to 80 percent settled at three months. Watching their progress is like watching your hair grow. You don’t see a difference in your hair growth daily, but all of a sudden you need a haircut. So at 8 weeks they are beginning to come into your clothes and that's when you can start thinking about more major bra and bathing suit shopping. The implants are fully settled and stop changing between 9 and 12 months. Hello,Thank you for your question and photo. Typically the breasts drop & fluff between 2-6 months post op. You will note that they begin to soften around two months and become less full in the upper poles. They shouldn't change size once the initial swelling goes down in the first few weeks but the shape changes as they drop. Let your Plastic Surgeon know if you have any concerns and try to wait until 6 months post before evaluating your results. All the best
Thank you for your question. You are still early in the post-operative period. It typically takes 3 - 6 months for the swelling to subside and and implants to settle into proper position. Please discuss your concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon. Also, make sure you follow all of your plastic surgeons post-operative instructions regarding level of physical activity and use of a support bra. Hope this helps and good luck with your recovery.
jznak. First off, you have a great early result! I advise my patients that it usually takes 3-6 months for the implants to settle in and your muscle and skin relax. Most women tell me that after 6 months, they no longer feel like implants, they feel like their breasts! Try to be patient, they look good now, and will just get better with time. Good luck!
Thank you for posting your recent post operative photo with your interesting question. After a few weeks the breast will begin to settle and the distance from your infra-mammary crease to the nipple will lengthen due to the weight of the breast implant and gravity on your breast tissue. The final result can take months and is often referred to as the "6 month drop." I recommend that you continue to follow up with your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon over the next several months. Best wishes, Dr. Richard Swift
Hi,Thanks for your question. As long as you follow the activity restrictions outlined by your plastic surgeon during healing, you should have no problem resuming your sport.
Hello,Make an appointment with your plastic surgeon immediately and have him/her examine your wound for any follow-up care that might be needed. Good luck.
Congratulations on your breast augmentation. My personal preference is to have patients avoid pectoral exercise for 1 year to reduce the risk of laterally displacing the breast implants and reducing cleavage. I suggest you speak to your plastic surgeon.
