Is this inframammary Breast Augmentation incision infected at 22 days post op? (photos)

Question

I have been healing tremendously and so happy! At 20 days the scabbing started to separate from the incisions. As I was cleaning the incisions my pressure non-forcefully encouraged the left scab to come off. Followed by slight redness and discomfort for an hour. I took a shower and put steri-tape on both of my incisions. At day 22 I took the tape off and noticed a small amount of brown puss along with a very slight odour (left). Is this infected? Again, no pain or discomfort just worried.

it seems that from your photos, you have delayed healing, and probably not and infection. You should certainly see your plastic surgeon to determine a plan for wound care.

Judging by the photos, it does not appear that your incision is healing properly.  Although it does not look infected, I am concerned with the healing process as you have some skin loss/breakdown.I would recommend calling and following up with your plastic surgeon ASAP.Good luck.

Based on your photos, you appear to have some superficial wound breakdown. The "brown puss" that you are seeing is likely fibrinous exudate (human glue) that is trying to heal the open wound. You should make an appt. to see your PS tomorrow as this is not a normal finding. Hopefully, the open wound is superficial and should heal with some local wound care (Vaseline ointment/Bandaid). are very rare but they do happen.  Infections usually involve spreading redness, increasing pains and discharge, and even fevers.  If this is localized as it appears, you do have a wound complication and should see your surgeon to ensure that it is as it appears and is not the tip of some iceberg.
