My lipo incision is not closing? (Photo)

Question

I got smart lipo 4 weeks ago. The incision "hole" is not closing. Is that normal? Photo attached. Its a holiday weekend so can't get in touch w surgeon for a few days. Does it need to be re-stitched? I believe it is infected, and have been using anti-biotic ointment w/ bandaids to cover the hole.

Drainage and redness are common signs of infection. See your surgeon and get treated promptly before your condition worsens. Ointments aren't enough.

After 4 weeks it should be closed. After a week, it should be closed. You're risking infection. You should see your doctor.

It will eventually close, may be due to burn..friction..looks inflamed..do you still leak ..?
otherwise..get it in touch with surgeon, he may consider excising it under local and close it with fine stitches..if leaking has stopped. closes..within 72 hrs..

Incisions from Liposuction on average close within 48-72 hrs after the procedure. It is definitely not normal for your incision to still be open after 1 month. This could indicate a problem like infection or fistula formation. I recommend following up with your surgeon ASAP for examination and to discuss a treatment plan. Good luck!

Smartlipo incisions are small and usually heal very quickly. Also the heat of the laser usually prevents infections. I have seen patients get reactions to the topical antibiotic ointment, especially Neosporin. You should not be applying an antibiotic ointment for more than a few days. I would stop the ointment and just clean it with dilute hydrogen peroxide 2-3 times per day. Give it a week, and then see your plastic surgeon.david berman md

Insertion site should have closed and healed within a few days. Continue using antibiotic ointment and contact your Dr. as soon as possible. There could be an underlying problem.
