Smart lipo, umbilicalplasty?
Answer: Yes, provided you get clearance Hi, The answer is yes, very likely you can have smart lipo even with your diagnosis of morphea. This is a usually localized to the skin, if your patches are on an area where you are wanting to have the lipo done then a quick clearance will help. Smart Lipo is performed in the fat layer such that there should be no issue. I would have your surgeon have a quick chat with your doc who diagnosed you!

Answer: Morphea and liposuction Yes, liposuction can be done in the setting of dormant Morphea Scleroderma. I have performed extensive trunk liposuction on a patient as a treatment for contour irregularities from prior dermal sclerosis with significant improvement. However, there is a risk of reignition of the disease in a small percentage of patients. My patient had a tummy tuck with some Lipitor the waist, so we had a stress test of how she would respond to cosmetic surgery. I hope this helps, thank you.

Answer: You should get a clearance from the rheumatologist who diagnosed you with morphea if you mean morphea as described as a localized type of scleroderma with no systemic manifestations of scleroderma,- it should be fine to get Smartlipo. if you simply have a small patch of "different skin" than it should be fine. since i don't know who diagnosed you with Morphea and on what basis, I would want to know more details about who diagnosed you and on what basis and what investigations they did to reach that diagnosis. Since Smartlipo is almost always done under local anesthetic with oral sedation, it is usually very safe. However, if someone has some very unusual problems, then it needs closer scrutiny. good luckdavid berman md
