Is my left eye bag going to go away (5 months post lower blepharoplasty)?

Usually no further changes are expected after 3 months from surgery. Best to discuss with your surgeon. Based on this photo, it appears you have residual under eye fat pads.

There is an old saying in plastic surgery that I share with my fellows and residents. You can always remove more, you cannot remove less. Reducing bags under the eyes is about removing the excess fat from around the eyeball, not fully removing some deposit under the skin. Sometimes we need to go back and remove a little more. After 5 months I doubt that this will go down much more.

At 5 months you are probably pretty well healed, so this fat pad will remain.  You will need a revision to take it out. 

Given that you are 5 months out this is probably a residual fat pad. I have seen this improve some but if it persists your surgeon should offer you a revision. Wishing you the best of luck.

You coming to the point that if it has not gone away already it probably will not.  You may need a revision for the remaining fat.  You may also need softening of the nasojugal groove/tear trough region.  Best of luck.

This is the time to discuss revision with your surgeon. It is unlikely that additional changes will occur. 

 Five months after surgery, the lower lids should be in the desired position. I believe you have some asymmetry of bag removal in the left side. You should consult your surgeon for a touchup.

Most patients have a stable surgical result by about 3-4 months, and what you see at that point is very predictive of the final appearance.  Your photograph suggests a relatively prominent eye, and these are the most challenging patients when it comes to lower eyelid surgery.  We would have to see how the lids look when you look up and to the side, and check to see whether there is any tethering of the lid after surgery.  However it appears that you have more of an issue that just excess fat left over on one side.The goal of cosmetic lower lid surgery is to blend the lower eyelids smoothly into the upper cheek.  I see lots of folds in your lower lid - cheek complex, and I do not believe this can be adequately addressed with transconjunctival blepharoplasty alone.  This may be a source of disappointment to you as well, and you may want to seek second opinions, as well as discussing this with your original surgeon.Sincerely,Yoash R. You may be seeing the final result now, however, you may want to wait another month before considering revision. Non-invasive options include CO2 resurfacing and/or TempSure treatments to gently tighten the skin over the residual fat pads to help with the contouring. Best wishes.
