Is my bruising post Miradry normal? I had Miradry 5 days ago. (Photos)

Question

My right arm is healing as expected with minor bruising. My left arm is bruised down to forearm and along the side of my breast. I'm icing and taking Tylenol. What caused this. I'm not on any meds. Doctor's office says it's normal.

I appreciate your concern. Some bruising is normal with the local anesthesia injections given right before MiraDry. I have rarely seen bruises like yours when patients are taking a form of blood thinner like aspirin or ibuprofen.Best wishes. Dr. ALDO

This can happen, gravity carries the blood downward. It will resolve over time, you can help it along with the use of oral arnica, and bromelaine. Return to your healthcare provider if it gets worse. Best of luck!

Yes bruising can occur with your miraDry treatment.  Some people will get no bruising but have seen some with significant bruising like yours.  It will slowly resolve, you can take some naturopathic supplements such as Arnica and Bromelain to help with bruising and swelling as well.

That is far more bruising than expected with the treatment.  It is typically just in the area of treatment if there is bruising.  Please consider using arnica and other anti-inflammatories to help resolve any residual swelling and bruising.

That is significant bruising, but all patients are different and some bruise more than others.  It is normal for bruising to extend down the arm and the side of the chest/breast.  It should improve with time and doesn't look like a hematoma.  Stay in contact with your physician's office and alert them if anything changes.

I wouldn’t say this is “normal” but I wouldn’t be overly concerned either. Miradry causes some bruising and you look thin. You just appear to have bruised more than is typical. Gravity has allowed the blood from the bruising to go into your upper arms. It will resolve with time.

Thank you for the question and the photos.It is common to have some bruising due to the local anaesthetic injections. You do have rather a lot of bruising, a little more than usual, it should settle over the next week or so. If you have any pain or swelling with it do contact your doctors' office.

Temporary bruising may occur after MiraDry.  This typically lasts 2 weeks.  You should probably show the doctor who performed your MiraDry treatment.
