You may be sweat free for about 2 months after Miradry. 82% of the sweat glands are destroyed and the other ones are temporarily damaged from the procedure but eventually these glands will start sweating again. It is recommended to wait 3 months for a final result. At that point most of our patients are happy wt the reduction of sweat and opt not to repeat procedure again.
I also agree that at 1 month the result is more reliable. Some glands in "shock" may return to sweating if they recover. Best wishes, Dr. ALDO
Why would you sweat after having miradry done? The sweat and odor glands that were destroyed during the procedure can not re grow. However, typically only about 75-80% of them are effected, and for that reason you may continue to have some small sweat glands remaining after about 3 months. Most patients only need the one treatment, but you may have a second if you choose after seeing your final result. You'll have a better idea after this waiting period to see. Best of luck to you!
It reduces sweat by 82% with one treatment. After 3 months another treatment is performed if necessary. We have had very good success with one treatment.
Hi and thank you for your question! Many people report significant reduction in sweating and odor in the first few days after the procedure. There may be a slow return of the sweating and odor over the next few months. We know final result after 3 months, when we encourage people to come in for a second treatment, if needed. As stated below, because of swelling, inflammation and the energy from the procedure some of the glands were damaged but not destroyed and some of those slowly come back to life after the procedure. Come in for a complementary consultation! Best, Dr. Grant Stevens
You make a very astute observation. It is because some of the sweat glands that are stunned by the treatment don't actually die, and will continue to function after a few weeks or months of healing. That will be your new baseline level of sweating at that point.
Pretty much all of my Miradry patients see 100% reduction in sweat immediately after their first treatment. The procedure causes destruction of the sweat glands and in that process there is some swelling and inflammation. All of the sweat glands in that area are traumatized but a small percentage may recover. At about 3 months we can generally tell if a second treatment is needed to knock off remaining glands. Everyone is different but most do one or two treatments for 85% sweat reduction that last years....potentially a permanent solution to an annoying problem. BTW: only 2 % of your sweat glands are in your armpits so there is no negative effect on overall functioning of the body.
It is not uncommon for patients who have had the miraDry procedure to experience fluctuating amounts of sweat in the first several weeks. Many patients state that they are 100% dry at first, and then have small amounts of sweat later. The reason for this could be that 100% of the sweat glands are not destroyed. The average result for a miraDry procedure is 82% reduction of sweat.
3 months is usually your final result, but you may notice similar results before that. You may experience some sweat with vigorous activity but usually at least 80% gone. Definitely wait 3 months at least if you are considering another treatment
Most patients have a 50%-70% sweat reduction after the first treatment, and up to 80% reduction after the second session. After each procedure, the sweat and odor glands that are still present are in a state of shock, which may be a reason why you are not experiencing any sweating at all.The glands that were not all killed off my the miradry treatment will slowly gain back their function as you are healing. You will most likely experience some sweating again in a few weeks to months, and from there you can decide if you wish to have another treatment. This treatment should be isolated to the armpit area. It should not travel and cause edema anywhere else. With one treatment we have seen 82% reduction in underarm sweat.
I have not had a patient require more than 2 treatments of MiraDry for underarm sweating. In clinical studies, MiraDry has been shown to permanently reduce sweating by 82%, and I have had excellent results treating my patients with MiraDry for underarm sweating. One important fact...
At this time it is not indicated for these areas. Hopefully an applicator will come out soon, but for now your best option may be Botox. Good luck!
