Would like to have alarplasty done. How long will I need to take leave or vacation from work?

In our practice, we usually advise patients to take a week off for this procedure.  Be sure to discuss with your own surgeon about how this applies to you, and whether they have any special concerns in your case.

You only need one day off from work if you do not mind some swelling and find stitches around the nostrils. However if you want to be looking completely normal then take off 5 days. RegardsDr. J

Thank you for your question.  This depends on your pain tolerance, what you do for a job and whether or not you care if other people will notice.  Some people don't need narcotics at all after alarpplasty, while others need it for a few days to a week.  If you are on narcotics, it probably not a good idea for you to work and not OK for you to drive.  You will have visible sutures for 5-7 days usually and this will make the surgery quite noticeable.  I hope this helps.  Its hard to be more specific without your input into some of the above variables.  Al the best!

An alarplasty requires stitches, and these are often removed at one week. You can return to desk work within a few days if you are ok with people seeing stitches. If not, then within a week to ten days.

 An alar plasty procedure can be performed under local anesthesia and patients are able to return to work 3-4 days later. There is a mild amount of swelling in the area with some stitches.

There is a quick recovery, It can be done under local anesthesia alone and sutures are out in 3-5 days. There is usually some swelling but little black and blue -- so back to work in  a few days is possible.

If you do not much physical work, and work in a clean environment, a few days is enough, depending on how you feel.

Hi,A simple alarplasty you should only have to take a day or 2 off from work. If you had it done on a thursday or friday, you can go back to work Monday.Best,Dr.S.
