Is alarplasty alone suitable? (Photo)

Dear siwon28Although an alarplasty can give you the narrower alar base you desire, without operating on the tip, it can often lead to disproportion between the tip and alar base width. These pictures are not clear enough to give you a fair answer but you should certainly seek an in person examination from expereinced and board certified plastic Surgeon to get more case specific information.

An alarplasty will narrow your wide  nostrils. It will not make them absolutely perfect .Your goals are appropriate. See a very experienced rhinoplasty surgeon for this.

The changes from Alar plasty alone can be reproduced by way of video imaging. This will allow you to decide whether or not this procedure alone will provide the desired result. Other aspects of a rhinoplasty can be added to give you an idea of what can be accomplished by other facets to the operation.

Hi Siwon,Thank you for providing some pictures of the issue.  Obviously the pictures, with the various facial expressions, can influence the appearance of your nostrils and could change the opinion of the rhinoplasty surgeon.  From the pictures, you do seem like a good candidate for reducing the alar width.  (There are various methods to reduce the alar width as well.).  I think if you are trying to elevate your tip, then you would need a tip rhinoplasty in combination with the alar reduction surgery.  You don't have a profile picture so I can't comment on the dorsum or the tip to dorsal relationship.  Anyways, good luck!  Find an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon as well.

  There will always be some minor asymmetry to the nostrils even after an alar plasty procedure. The goal of an alar plasty is to narrow wide nostrils by removal of a small wedge of skin at the base of the nostrils.

face in repose or relaxed, since smiling always makes you nose look wider than
it actually is.An alarplasty, where
small wedges of tissue are removed from each nostril is a procedure that is
rarely done by itself.It is normally
done in conjunction with a rhinoplasty and rarely done as an isolated
procedure.It can narrow the nostrils or
make them smaller but can leave obvious scars that in men sometimes are not
very acceptable.An in person consultation with an expert rhinoplasty surgeon
would be the most helpful to you in order to get your questions answered and
find out what is possible considering your goals.I hope that helps.

This is very attainable through incisions on the inside of the nose, so that there are no outside scars. This can be achieved through a minimally invasive surgical procedure with little downtime, no scars, and no pain! An alarplasty will definitely improve your nose but I cannot recommend that s an isolated procedure without seeing the rest of your nose. Please send a complete set of pictures as described in my website.
