Bad alar base scar. Any preventative measures I can start taking? (Photo)

This is post op day 7. Should I be concerned about the way it is healing? My dr said to wait it out and that it would even out w the other nostril but I'm not sure and worrying a lot. It gets worse when I smile. Any preventative measures I can start taking or any future treatments if it doesn't heal well?

Alar plasty versus rhinoplasty to make the nose look smaller?  It looks like a rhinoplasty to refine the tip as well as decrease projection and correct your hanging columella would be more beneficial. I need to see a full set of photographs to make a better determination or an in person exam.

Dear siwon28Although an alarplasty can give you the narrower alar base you desire, without operating on the tip, it can often lead to disproportion between the tip and alar base width. These pictures are not clear enough to give you a fair answer but you should certainly seek an in person...

Alar base reduction only?  When you change the alar width you may have the remaining nose look to wider. Therefore you should see a very experienced surgeon who can give you the answer. Without photographs or examination I cannot give you any more information

A well-executed alar base reduction will not cause noticeable scarring.  After a rhinoplasty, you should be ready to be back in the public eye within 1-2 weeks.  However it is important to note that rhinoplasty results continue to mature for ~1 year.  Best of luck!

An experienced surgeon will make the incisions in the base of the nose and not along the Alae which creates an attached look. Make sure you see a very experienced surgeon and you should have a natural look.
