Less wide nose sidewalls and nostrils? (photos)

Thanks for your question.I agree with Dr. Finn below. While there may be some very minor widening of the nostril base, your nose looks great. I agree with the recommendation for an in person consult to explore your options. Would highly recommend a facial plastic surgeon who regularly performs rhinoplasty.

What you've asked for can be achieved with rhinoplasty in most cases very successfully.  Be sure to discuss your goals and concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon and consider the pros and the cons. 

I see what you are referencing.  The middle vault of the nose along with the lower 1/3 are slightly wide and bulbous.  Narrowing of the ala would help, but not solve the problem entirely.  You need to remove volume from the tip.  Narrowing the bones would also bring the middle vault in by some techniques that only experienced nasal surgeons can do.Please consult with a double board certified Facial Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon.

photograph, you may benefit from a tip refining rhinoplasty. Your surgeon can
accomplish this by trimming, suturing, and reshaping the cartilage in your
lower nose.   Make sure you specifically look at before and after
pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon
and not just a computer animation system. The most important
aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek
consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate
you in person.

A full set of facial photographs are required to make a determination about the width of the nose relative to the face. To narrow wide nasal bones requires osteotomies placed in them. To narrow wide nostrils requires in an alar-plasty. Both procedures can be performed together under a brief general anesthesia as an outpatient surgical procedure. From what these photos show, it is hard to see anything wrong with your nose. A better assessment could be made with an in-person consultation with computer imaging. That can give you a better perspective on your nose, and help you understand what changes are realistic. Good luck!

All of the things you mention may address your concerns, but in the absence of full face and profile photos it is impossible to offer an opinion on what might be reasonable for your face.Be sure to consult a surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery who can show you a comprehensive portfolio of pre- and post-op photos.

With these pictures all I can say is that your entire nose including the bridge, tip, an nasal base are wide. All of these problems can be improved with rhinoplasty surgery but I suggest you submit a full set of pictures for nasal evaluation as described on  my website or see a rhinoplasty specialist for an evaluation.

Hello and thank you for your excellent question. You appear to have an asian-type nose, with broad, flat nasal bones, a lack of dorsal projection, and a wide nasal tip. In these instances, there is a balance between maintaining your appearance, versus reshaping every aspect of the nose that you desire. In general, I advise a combination of narrowing the nasal bones with osteotomies, providing additional dorsal nasal support and projection, refining the nasal tip, reducing the nasal ala, and perhaps adding alar support grafts. You may be a good candidate for one of these techniques, or all of them. You will really need to be evaluated in person, perhaps with the aid of computer imaging to simulate the surgery. This decision should be based on a detailed discussion with equal input from both you and your surgeon.    Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results.   The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with.
