Less wide nose sidewalls and nostrils? (photos)

Question

In photos my nose looks terrible. I had always struggled with how my nose looked since I was 9. The sides of my nose creates this weird shadow that goes from slim to wide, this shadow isn't even a thin one but a wide one that stretches out to the width of my alars. Would I need to get the sidewalls of my nose straightened? Or would I need to get my alars fixed to narrow it out? Or both? What surgery should be recommended? Is it even the side walls that is the issue? Please help!

Thanks for your question.I agree with Dr. Finn below. While there may be some very minor widening of the nostril base, your nose looks great. I agree with the recommendation for an in person consult to explore your options. Would highly recommend a facial plastic surgeon who regularly performs rhinoplasty.

What you've asked for can be achieved with rhinoplasty in most cases very successfully.  Be sure to discuss your goals and concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon and consider the pros and the cons.

I see what you are referencing.  The middle vault of the nose along with the lower 1/3 are slightly wide and bulbous.  Narrowing of the ala would help, but not solve the problem entirely.  You need to remove volume from the tip.  Narrowing the bones would also bring the middle vault in by some techniques that only experienced nasal surgeons can do.Please consult with a double board certified Facial Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon.

Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your
photograph, you may benefit from a tip refining rhinoplasty. Your surgeon can
accomplish this by trimming, suturing, and reshaping the cartilage in your
lower nose.   Make sure you specifically look at before and after
pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon
and not just a computer animation system. The most important
aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek
consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate
you in person.
