What is the difference between chin lipo and neck lipo? (photo)

I think the only difference is what patients want to call the procedure, but plastic surgeons typically refer to the operation as "Neck" liposuction.  Sometimes patients see the problem as more of a "chin" issue and sometimes they think it's their hanging neck, but either way, we treat the whole space from the jawline down to the top of the chest.In your case, I think liposuction combined with the chin implant will give you a BEAUTIFUL result and I would absolutely endorse doing both.  I'm going to leave a link below to a patient of mine who did just that.Good Luck!

The amount and distribution of fat below the jawline varies from person to person. Some patients will only need lipo underneath the chin, whereas others need the fat removed to the level of the adams apple.  Generally one patients have liposuction of the chin which is the area of the neck That is horizontal the rest of the neck is suctioned at least for the purposes of feathering things out. The chin proper which is directly over the the bony  prominence in the most forward part of the lower jaw is never suctioned.

For some doctors the two are interchangeable.  However, removing fat from only under the chin and providing for a better defined jawline are really two different entities.  Via very small insertion sites under each ear lobe, liposuction can be done to provide for a better defined jawline that is very hard to achieve through only an incision under the chin. Look at before and afters with your doctor and discuss what you wish to achieve.  Take care and good luck.

Thank you for your question. Chin liposuction and Neck Liposuction are similar.Chin liposuction is usually limited to the submental fat pad, while neck liposuction encompasses more of the entire anterior neck.

Thank you for your picture. In my opinion, there's no difference between chin liposuction and neck liposuction. The whole reason for liposuction in that area is to improve the contour of the neck and improve the contour of the jawline.

I believe the term "neck liposuction" is used more by doctors and the term "chin liposuction" is used more by patients.  Essentially it is the same thing.  The procedure used to help with a double chin is liposuction of the neck.  Some patients may just refer to it as liposuction of the chin.

we are talking about the same procedure and it depends on who is talking about
it – but most of us call this neck liposuction. You do need to make sure a board-certified
dermatologist or plastic surgeon performs your procedure. And you should be
aware that there will soon be a new drug for this double chin area – called
ATX-101. This is a drug that will be injected into the neck to help reduce the
double chin. A series of injections will be needed; some pain and swelling are
reported in the clinical trials. We hope to see this drug approved this year.

There is no difference between liposuction of the neck and chin. Liposuction of this area can improve the contour of the neck and jawline. A chin implant alone will not have any effect on the neck area, so if you find this area a concern, liposuction may be a great plan. Please be sure the physician performing the surgery is a board certified plastic surgeon who has experience in chin implants and liposuction and is using a chin implant that is the correct size and shape.   Chin liposuction and neck  liposuction the very same thing.  More importantly, there are 2 compartments of fat in the neck and these are called a sub-mental fat and sub-platysmal fat. Submental fat can be removed with liposuction, however  the sub-platysmal fat must be surgically removed and requires a platysma plasty after the removal.
