I want chin lipo but I have many clustered keloids along my jawline, some of them extending down the neck. I have many and they're all kinda clustered together in a mound. Is it safe for me to get chin lipo??

Answer: Chin Liposuction and Keloids I have successfully performed liposuction on many patients with keloids, although it is unpredictable if any surgery/trauma can cause an additional keloid at the site of entrance for the liposuction. My suggestion would be to see someone with experience in liposuction and lasers, who also treats keloids and scars. I would used pulsed dye laser over the scar 2-3 weeks after liposuction to prevent any keloid from forming. Nobody can answer this for you with certainty. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Dealing with keloids can be a difficult problem Thanks for your question. While the simple answer is yes, dealing with keloids can be a difficult problem and can occur with any trauma or scar on your skin, as you probably know. I have been involved in keloid research for many years and although there is some very promising new treatments out there, I would strongly suggest that you consult with a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon and make sure they are well versed not only in liposuction but also in dealing with keloids. It would also seem prudent to deal with the keloids as if you are going to want to contour your neck, you do not want keloids obstructing the new you.
