Question

I've been chewing for about alittle less than a year. Now that I've had the surgery I haven't had any nicotine/chewing tobacco and don't plan on having any (its been 3 days so far). I'm really worried though because I didn't completely quit until right after my surgery. The doctor asked me if I smoked and I said no, because I dont. I didn't know about the effects nicotine had on my blood circulation until right after the surgery. Do you think my graphs will be ok? Any

If you have questions after your surgery, it is best to ask your surgeon since your surgeon knows you best.  In general doctors will recommend you don't use tobacco after surgery.

There's really no way to tell. You'll just have to wait and see what sort of hair growth you have over the next year. But even then, if you have diminished growth there's no way anyone would be able to attribute it specifically to chewing tobacco and not other factors that may have influenced it. Stopping after the transplant is probably more important than stopping before, for what it's worth.

By now you are a week out after undergoing a
hair transplant.    At one week, we tell patients they may resume
their usual activities.  As a general
rule, we ask that patients to refrain from tobacco products for several days
before to several days after surgery.    At this point you cannot change the past, but
on a positive note, take this opportunity to remain tobacco free.

Although most doctors tell you to stop smoking or chewing tobacco, there is no direct evidence that this will hurt your growth. Your health is another story

Smoking does effect hair growth, so we ask our clients to not smoke a few days before and after. At this point you can not do any thing so just wait and see.
