Discharge from incision sites, especially if liposuction was used is quite normal. However, if this drainage is purulent and/or foul smelling this could represent an infection and needs to be evaluated by your surgeon.Discharge of any kind from the nipple or areola away from an incision is not normal and should be evaluated by your surgeon.Best Regards,Dr. Stutman
With any surgery you should definitely contact your surgeon regarding questions that concern you. In general many gynecomastia procedures involve some element of liposuction, so yes it can be normal to have some drainage. Without knowing what was done in your particular situation, I would recommend contacting your surgeon as soon as possible to make sure you don't have any sort of infection. If you are having discharge from your actual nipple and not just the incisions near the nipple, you definitely need to discuss this with your surgeon. best of luck
Contact your surgeon for a follow up visit as soon as possible to rule out infection. Best wishes!
