I had Gynecomastia surgery on March 20th and I will be going to Las Vegas on May 28th (2 months 8 days) I would like to go in the sun/swim (not over do it & not try to get a tan) so I wanted to ask your opinions on if you think this is ok? I dont mind covering up the incisions with a surgical tape or zinc but what about the general chest area where I had lipo suction? I know it's still healing so I dont want to negatively effect the healing process. Appreciate your answers in advance!

Answer: Male Breast Reduction Hi, I am glad your are recovering nicely. Yes, keep sun off the incisions, as you mentioned, for 6-12 months postop. The scars should fully mature by one year. You mentioned you had lipo suction, so you should be able to be as active as you want, by now. So avoid sun exposure to the scars, do what you want activity wise, and have a blast. All the best, "Dr. Joe"

Answer: Sun exposure after gynecomastia surgery? You hit upon the key things - keeping the incision sites protected from the sun. The area that had liposuction below does not need anything special besides your sun screen. The trick with sun block is to reapply about every 2 hours and to use a 30-45 SPF. You need to apply it heavy enough to need rubbing in. The two main problems people have in using sun block is not using enough and not reapplying it often enough. Good luck & have fun in Vegas.
