Hello. During my recent laser session (one week ago) I was paired with a new technician because the one I'm used to seeing was busy with someone else. The new technician was nice and friendly, however she moved the laser across my face much faster than the technician that I'm used to. I did indeed feel a few zaps, but I just don't like how fast she went. I'm afraid she may have missed a few spots. Am I just being paranoid?

Answer: Laser hair removal on face - is speed important? It depends on the type of laser used. If the laser uses a chilled footplate, there is a certain minimum time the chilling needs to occur to protect the skin surface. If the is cooled using a cryogen, the timing of movement must be coincident with the pulse. If the laser is moving as the cryogen is fired, the skin that is lased will not be properly cooled by the cryogen. If the timing is right, there is no problem with moving fast as long as all areas are treated.

Answer: Laser Hair removal speed Good afternoon and thank you for your question! As long as the technician overlapped with each pulse you should be fine. Depending on the fluence (energy) that was used it may have allowed the technician to move quicker during your most recent session. The technician that you had prior may have moved slower to make the treatment more comfortable for you. Best of luck! For more information please feel free to visit our website!

Answer: Technique Matters! Thanks for your question. I assume you are being treated for LHR, but you didn't specify what you are doing. Technique is very important with LHR. Poor technique can lead to patchiness and burns. If a treatment doesn't seem normal, stop them and ask questions. If they can't or won't give you adequate information, ask to speak to their supervising physician. We recommend finding an experienced and reputable provider in your area with updated equipment. A consistent overlapping technique is the key to avoiding patchiness in LHR. Best of luck.

Answer: Is there such thing as moving the laser around too quickly? Hello, thank you for your question. You shouldn't really have to worry too much about the speed of the treatment, some technicians will go a little bit slower to make it more comfortable for the patient. Speed doesn't really matter, the thing that matters is that the coverage is accomplished. Usually there will be slight overlapping on the treatment area in order to not miss any follicles. Because you will be coming back several time (6-8), if there were a few missed follicles they will be picked up at a later date. -no worries!
