Will I have to remove my nipple piercings if I get a breast augmentation?

I allow my patients to replace their piercings with plastic spacers during their breast augmentation surgery. Any time after surgery they can replace their original piercings. Thank you for your question. You can definitely still have breast augmentation surgery if your nipples have been pierced. Your piercings can temporarily be replaced with plastic spacers before the surgery. This can be perform at your local piercing parlor. When considering breast augmentation make sure you find a board certified plastic surgeon who will take the time to answer all of your questions and explain all of your options, so that you can decide if breast augmentation is right for you.

prior to your breast augmentation. However, you should be able to reinsert the
piercings soon after your surgery. I recommend speaking with your operating
surgeon to find out his/her protocol regarding nipple piercings and breast
augmentation. For the safest and most satisfying procedure, carefully follow
your surgeon's advice.

Breast augmentation is a very powerful technique in the right hands, and can have dramatic results in a variety of breasts types.  Most important is a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon regarding this procedure.  Don’t settle for less!

Thank you for your question.  While it may seem like a hassle to remove piercings before surgery, there are very good reasons for doing so as some jewelry can get in the way or actually cause harm if left in place during a surgical procedure. It is not common, but the risk outweighs the reward and the best thing to do is remove all jewelry.  On the chance your piercing holes close, you may want to speak to your surgeon about re-opening them. Best wishes, Andrew T. Thank you for your question. You will have to remove it just for the procedure itself. Once it is done, you can reinsert them right away. 

You can keep the piercings in.  We typically remove them while you are asleep and replace them before you wake up!
