Would having a nipple reduction will effect breastfeeding in the future?

While it is not guaranteed, you should understand that your ability to breastfeed following surgery may be negatively impacted. This is a risk related to any cosmetic breast surgery, even if it is rare in occurrence.

You should be able to breast feed with nipple reduction. Typically with this procedure nipple skin is removed and the attachments of the nipple to the breast remain intact. The nipple is "telescoped" down to shorten projection. It's a great procedure for women who want to reduce their nipple projection.Best of luck to you!

the simplest reduction maneuver is to simply top the nipple (lop off the top), cutting it where you want the height to be.  Secondary healing will then occur and the body is remarkable in recreating what was there before so its conceivable your ducts will re-establish themselves for breast feeding down the road.  BUT if you don't want to accept such risks, then what Dr. Shermak suggested would be the procedure of choice.
