Is it possible for a small breast implant to look and feel almost-completely natural?

Dear Frozen_stair,It is entirely possible to have small implants and for them to look and feel natural.  Silicone implants under the muscle will give you the most natural result.  I use an armpit (axillary) incision with and endoscopic, which usually gives an almost invisible incision.  I strongly believe the endoscopic is necessary to give you the best results with minimal risk of complications.  Using this method, many of our patients say that the surgery is undetectable by their friends and family.Aloha, Shim Ching, MD

The answer is maybe. My experience is that if you do not bring any aspects of your implant history or any areas that you may feel it and if your scar is remote (for example #transaxillaryBreastAugmentation, then most males are clueless. If you bring it to their attention they may persist in focusing on that element.

Hi. The answer is yes a natural look and feel is possible but it mostly depends on how much breast tissue that you have to cover the implant. There are multiple different techniques to try and achieve a natural result with implants. One of the most important is size - the smaller you go the more natural. The less cohesive the gel the more natural the feel but the more likely you will see wrinkles. Having said that it can be a relative waste of money if you go too small. I would not recommend trying to hide it from a partner. Regards

Hello,Your skin quality, amount and density of breast tissue that you start with, implant placement and type- will all contribute to how natural your breasts may feel post op. Many people report that the look and feel of silicone cohesive gel implants is more "natural" than saline. I recommend that you book your consultation with a board certified Plastic Surgeon who specialises in Breast augmentation and who's results appeal to you. Yes, it's possible to get a very natural look with implants.  I have placed many 200-250cc implants in women who desire just a little increase in breast volume without any unnatural appearance to the breasts.

Hi there and thanks for your question.The short answer is, no surgeon will  guarantee that an intimate partner would not be able to tell you have had breast implants. If anyone does, then you should run a mile!!!!Certainly your implants should look natural if that is the outcome you desire and the scars should be minimal. I use an inframammary scar personally, which I feel gives the best aesthetic result with the least potential for complications.The smaller the implant certainly the less noticeable it may be, and placing the implant in a sub muscular or dual plane location is likely to provide the best camouflage possible.All the bestRichard

Ideally all breast augmentations should not be able to be detected from appearance of the breast this is of course limited by the size of the implant and the size of the patient.  Silicone implants definitely feel more natural but may be detectable with someone feeling your breasts.  As far a scar in concerned implants can be placed through an incision in the fold under the breast around the nipple and through the armpit.  I don't think that any surgeon can guarantee you that your partner will not be able to detect your breast augmentation.  If it is a husband or long term partner it is best if they are on board with your decision.  Have a consultation with a board certified plastic Surgeon

Good question. Much of the final look and feel achieved after breast augmentation surgery depends on several factors:

1. The initial shape, size (volume of breast tissue), symmetry of the patient's breasts. In general, the better the preoperative breast appearance the more likely the breast augmentation “look” will be optimal.

2. The experience/skill level of the surgeon is important in determining the final outcome. For example, the accurate and gentle dissection of the breast implant pockets are critical in producing long-term well-placed breast implants. Careful measurements (dimensional planning) and careful selection of breast implant size/profile are part of the surgeon's responsibilities.
I personally think that these 2 factors are more important than any others, including type (saline or silicone) or model (low/moderate/high profile) of implant.

3. The type of implant used may determine the final outcome, especially if the patient does not have significant covering breast or adipose tissue. For example, some surgeons feel that silicone implants have a more natural look and feel than saline implants because silicone gel has a texture that is similar to breast tissue. In other words, if a patient has very low body fat and/or very little breast tissue, the silicone gel implants may provide a more "natural" result.

4. The size and model of breast implant used may make a significant difference in the final outcome. Generally speaking, for any given patient, the smaller the breast implant utilized the more likely it is to look "natural".  It is very important to communicate your size goals with your surgeon. In my practice, the use of photographs of “goal” pictures (and breasts that are too big or too small) is very helpful. I have found that the use of words such as “natural” or “B or C cup” etc.
Also, as you know, cup size varies depending on who makes the bra; therefore, discussing desired cup size may also be inaccurate.
