I got my rhinoplasty exactly a week ago today and I am going in to get my little cast thing removed. During this week I have sneezed, smiled , coughed and bumped my nose a few times during my sleep. I don't feel any pain in my nose... But I am nervous that sneezing and coughing messed it up. what are the chances ?

Answer: Fragility of nose after rhinoplasty Thank you for your question. Sneezing and coughing are exceedingly unlikely to cause changes to the shape of your nose. Sneezing and coughing, like strenuous activity can raise your blood pressure which in turn can increase the risk that you get a nose bleed after surgery. Lightly bumping your nose is also unlikely to shift things, but a harder blow can move the nasal bones or tear sutures. Usually if this were to occur, you would experience significant pain and swelling afterwards. You wouldn't notice the swelling while the splint is on. Smiling should not affect the results. All the best!

Answer: "Messing up" a rhinoplasty? Thank you for your question. Congratulations on having a rhinoplasty. While the splint is on there is very little one can do to damage the result. It's normal to be nervous, but I'm sure you'll be fine. Best wishes to you.
