Answer: Lipo One of the most commonly held misconceptions within the world of cosmetic surgery is that liposuction is a short cut to weight loss. It is important to understand that the vast majority of liposuction patients will lose at most a few pounds. Liposuction is best thought of as a contouring tool for fine tuning areas which have been resistant to tried and true standard of diet and exercise. While it is true that results with liposuction are more immediate than the alternative, liposuction inappropriately employed as a weight loss technique is likely to lead to disappointment. The optimal liposuction candidate has reached a healthy stable weight and one or more target areas for improvement. Based upon your photos, you should also consider the possibility of the added challenge of skin excess (in the setting of further weight loss). As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon.

Answer: Liposuction vs sweat suit Thanks for your question. Liposuction will reduce the size of your thighs and improve the shape, however, it will not improve the skin rippling and cellulite (which can even get worse). It is not intended for weight loss either. While you might lose a couple of pounds (at most) with liposuction, it will appear that you have lost quite a bit more. The sweat suit is a waste of time and money. You will lose water weight which will return as soon as you start drinking. Diet and exercise is still the gold standard and healthiest option. Liposuction can be used as a jump start to see rapid results and keep you on goal.Best of luck.Dr. T
