Do breasts ever stay up near the collar bone as mine are at day 11. I feel like they are healing well ( I'm massaging daily ) but both are way high and torpedo shaped. I'm muscular (ex ballerina) wide shoulders/narrow hips body type. Small chested 29.5"under bust AA bra 2 kids 5"5 -108 lbs. I have high profile 420cc (Allergen) silicone sub muscular placement, as I wanted a lot larger. I'm happy but hoping I didn't go too big for my chest to accommodate the full drop I am waiting for.
Answer: Breast implant settling... Your concerns are understandable. Your plastic surgeon, knowing the details of your situation, will be your best resource when it comes to good assessment, advice, and/or meaningful prediction/reassurance. Generally speaking, breast implants will "drop" into the pocket that was created during surgery. The rate of breast implant "settling" may depend on factors such as size of breast implant pocket dissected, tightness of the overlying skin/muscle layers, and size of breast implant utilized. Normally, it takes about 3-6 months (for some patients longer) to see the final result. It is very common for one side to settle faster than the other. Similarly, it takes a few months for the breasts to "soften" in most cases. Most of my patients tell me that their breast implants feel "part of them" somewhere between 3 to 6 months after surgery was performed. As the breast implants "settle", the lower breast poles will round out (generally improving shape), and the nipple/areola complexes will seem to sit higher on each breast mound. There is definitely a physiologic and "psychological" (body image) adaptation process that occurs, at differing rates for every patient, for patients who undergo any type of aesthetic surgery, including breast augmentation surgery. Understandably, patients often experience significant emotional "ups and downs" around the time of surgery. In other words: time, patience, and close followup with your plastic surgeon are your best friends here. Best wishes for an outcome that you will be very pleased with longer-term.

Answer: Do implants ever stay up near the collar bone? Thank you for sharing your question. After placement of implants, the appearance of the breasts will change dramatically over the next several months as the implants drop and the overlying tissue stretches to accommodate the extra volume. In your case the swelling from surgery is flattening your implants and holding them high on your chest. Though they will not get bigger, the volume within the implant will redistribute towards the lower portion of your breast achieving a more natural appearance, and filling your bra cup more. This typically starts to occur 6-8 weeks after surgery. Hope this helps.
