Too young for neck lift? 36 years old (Photo)

Question

I was advised by a plastic surgeon recently to not have a neck lift as I am too young (36 years) but my skin is really sagging and at this point, I don’t feel like I can take it. Based on the photo, can you please tell me if I am a good candidate or if I am too young? If too young, what are my options?

I guess the plastic surgeon has never seen you :) because only with fat removal you will have a sagging chin as we called chicken chin. Regardless of your age, you can get the exact results you want with only a neck lift. We do these for people even 21 years old when indicated. You have a recessed chin and full neck.  Addressing these two (deep neck lift and chin position) can be done in about 1 hour or so.  There is just a small incision under the chin and no scars behind or around the ears.  You can expect a great result.

I don't think that you are too young for a neck lift and I think that you would likely see considerable improvement. I think that your best choices are cervical liposuction with extensive skin redraping or a necklift. I have done plenty of patients in their 30's who were very happy with their results.

From the photo you would do well with a lower face/neck lift under local.  It is easy to undergo and makes a dramatic natural look.  In just 2 days you see a huge improvement.

You may not need a formal necklift at this point, but it looks like you may benefit from liposuction to improve the neck and jaw definition. Given your relatively young age, the skin may snap back, but if there is clinical evidence this may not be the case, concomitant laser treatment to the deep dermis should help tighten the skin. Additionally, adding a procedure like MyEllevate, as I've done for similar patients, can be very beneficial. 
Lastly, although not well seen in your pics, your chin/jaw looks underprojected. A chin implant can really help to balance out this situation and can be done at the same time as the above.

Much more information is needed, such as a full set of facial and neck photographs from all angles to make it determination about how best to proceed. From the one very limited photograph, you appear to have fat deposit located both above and below the platysma muscle in your neck. In our practice, a neck lift at your age, usually involves removal the fat deposits above the muscle with liposuction, and surgical extraction of the fat deposits below the muscle, which also includes a platysma plasty to significantly improve the jawline. No skin removal should be necessary at age 36, but that needs to be determined at the time of the consultation.
