Use of compression stockings after a TT and lipo?

I am 54 years old, having a TT, lipo of the flanks and thighs. I have seen others mention varicose veins, deep vein thrombosis and was thinking of getting some stockings. Please comment on the need for thw stockings. Your advise to your patients.

Thank you for your question and concern. Compression stockings after a tummy tuck and liposuction surgery would be a great idea to decrease your chance of having a deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Your surgeon will likely also use other measures during your operation to help decrease the risk as well. Best, Dr. Kludt

Dear GreyshadowThank you for your question. I personally use compression stocking before surgery until at least one week post op. This help the blood flow and prevents thrombosis. Best wishes.

Many surgeons recommend compression stockings during and after surgery. You should ask your surgeon what they recommend for how long to wear them. It is also very important to be getting in and out of bed and walking periodically after surgery as this also helps to prevent DVT.
