I am 33 and was diagnosed with Hashimotos 1.5 years ago. I feel I have aged so much since then. I work out a lot, I am fit and slender but you wouldn't know it by looking at my face. It seems whatever I do, my face (and stomach for that matter) refuses to shift the stubborn fat. I take great care of my skin and health generally and fairly cautious when it comes to drastic measures however these fatty and sagging jowls are depressing and one side is bigger than he other. Help please?
Answer: Treatment of Laxity First of all, you are beautiful. That being said, if you want to refine your jawline you have lots of options these days. It does not appear from the photos that you do not have a significant submental fat pad (double chin) so I don't believe Kybella will get you the look you want. You can consider non invasive tightening of course- with microfocused ultrasound (Ultherapy) or with radiofrequency (Thermage, and newer devices like Infini for example) or even Pelleve since you are fairly young and your laxity is mild. A syringe or two of dermal filler to restore mid face volume loss would also be helpful. And, you could consider a non energy based, minimally invasive treatment such as Thread Lifting. Essentially, you are an excellent candidate for a variety of different approaches. Best, Lisa Vuich, MD

Answer: Thermage, Kybella or Ultherapy for Fat and Sagging Jowls? Ultherapy and/or Kybella Should Work for You You look much better than you think you do! You have just a slight amount of submental fat that could be improved with Kybella. I doubt you would need more than two treatments, I sometimes put a little Kybella in the jowls to also contour the lower face. To help lift your jowls and make your face look more symmetrical, Ultherapy would be a wonderful choice. Consulting a board-certified dermatologist who can spend time evaluating your skin, fat pad and your jowls will give you a much clearer idea of how to proceed to get the results you want. Ultherapy will also make your skin look and feel younger, which would be a nice bonus.

Answer: Kybella... There's not much fat, but I do appreciate a small bulge of fat in the photos. I think on or two treatments with Kybella might be enough, but have to confirm on examination.Best wishes, Dr. ALDO

Answer: Voluma for jawline definition Thank you for your question mrsdrw. I am sorry to hear about your situation. Kybella is the first and thus-far only FDA-approved non-surgical injectable treatment for the double chin. If I had a patient who looked like the person in these photographs I would say she is a good candidate for Voluma in the cheeks. This will restore the youthful apple of the cheeks while at the same time pulling up on the lower face to improve jawline definition. Please consult with a doctor for specific recommendations. Good luck!

Answer: Sagging jowls Kybella is great for getting rid of submental fat while Ultherapy is great for skin tightening and overall sculpting. It is hard to tell by looking at your photos if you are the right candidate for Kybella. You may have small bulge of fat and one treatment of Kybella would remove that permanently. You can potentially benefit from both treatments. You can even consider some fillers to contour your jowls. I advise you to make an appointment with experienced provider to discuss your options and choose the right treatment plan. Good luck!
