Thank you for the question. It is best to ask your surgeon what he or she prefers for you. I usually have my patients wear the surgical bra for two weeks and switch to another soft supportive bra with no underwire for the next 2 weeks. As long as the bra is supportive and does not put pressure on the incisions I say you can wear what makes you feel comfortable. All the best, Dr. Khuthaila
I advise my patients to wear the surgical bra for 6 weeks. They can change into soft crop tops while washing the surgical bra. After 6 weeks my patients can return to normal bras.
The decision as to when to stop wearing thesurgical bra will vary from person to person depending on your surgeon’srecommendation. I would ask your board-certified plastic surgeon thisquestion as it will be a matter of the surgeon’s recommendation depending onthe procedure that was performed. Hopefully this is helpful. Bestof luck!
Hello dear, thanks for your question. How long I have to wear my post-surgical bra after a Breast Augmentation? After a breast augmentation we have to protect our implants of possible movements out of the pocket already made by our surgeon. I always recommend my patients to wear their prost-surgical bra for at least 3 months from surgery day. Then you can change to an sports bra and continue using it for at least 6 months from surgery. It is a process and we have to give support and protection to our breasts. Compression is good for our breasts after a breast augmentation, we have to protect our post-surgical results and we will have a great surgery outgoing!! But I recommend to ask to your PS, because each surgeon has their own politics.Good luck :)
It is best to ask your surgeon when you can where a regular bra after your breast surgery. I usually have patients wear non wired bras for 6 weeks or so.
Congratulations on having undergone the breast surgery. There is no “standard” when it comes to the use of specific bras or garments after breast surgery. In other words, different plastic surgeons may have different practices when it comes to postoperative dressings/bras. In my practice, patients wake up with a surgical bra in place. This surgical bra, although not attractive, is supportive and used for about one month after surgery (some of my patients have been known to burn the bra ASAP). Then, patients transition to a soft sports bra. Wired bras are used when breast implants have reached their “final position” and patients have full sensation along the breast skin. Generally, the longer I have been in practice, the more I appreciate the use of supportive bras forever after breast augmentation and revisionary breast surgery. You may find the attached link, dedicated specifically to breast augmentation/lifting surgery outcomes, helpful to as you learn more. Best wishes.
When to wear a bra after breast augmentation is definitely a question I would ask you plastic surgeon as everyone has a different opinion and a reason for that opinion. How you heal in the first several weeks can also impact the decisions. Check with you plastic surgeon for specifics. Dear Chica83,Large breasts generally work in conjunction with Isaac Newton and gravity to result in droopiness. Women that are satisfied with their breast volume but the breast volume is just too low are best candidates for breast reduction and/or breast lift surgery. Rarely is there breast...
I generally recommend to obtain a type of compression bra or sports bra that does not have the elastic that sits immediately underneath the breast crease, which would rub along the breast tissue. If your bra is too tight or rubbing, then it can interfere with the healing of the incision. ...
Thank you for the great question. By looking at your pictures you would benefit from increase volume (implant) and a lift. There are several ways to accomplish the breast lift and minimize the scars. It would also depend on what your goals are. We are located in Paramus and offer...
